The office of the CIO serves as a strategic and operational anchor for IT leadership, communications, governance, and data stewardship. The role is responsible for managing enterprise-wide IT communications, maintaining governance and reporting frameworks, and overseeing the business-as-usual (BAU) operations of information governance. It ensures alignment between IT initiatives and organizational priorities, supports executive messaging, and fosters transparency, compliance, and collaboration across the IT function. This role partners closely with business and technology stakeholders to uphold data integrity, drive operational excellence, and support the CIO in delivering on strategic outcomes.
What will you do?
IT Communications & Engagement
- Develop and manage the annual IT communications calendar, including Townhalls, People Leader meetings, Speaker Series, Lunch & Learns, and CIO messaging.
- Partner with internal Communications team to draft and coordinate CIO communications (emails, SharePoint updates), ensuring alignment with MarComms standards and timely publication via Poppulo.
- Provide guidance and support to event leads, facilitate feedback collection, and maintain consistent content across platforms.
Governance Reporting & Operational Oversight
- Maintain and execute governance processes for Quarterly Performance Reports (QPRs), Board submissions, and Internal Technology Committee (ITC) deliverables in partnership with the CIO and IT Vice Presidents, as well as any other business leader that would require data collection/input to be added
- Facilitate monthly TechOps meetings, including agenda creation, meeting facilitation, action tracking, and executive summaries.
- Monitor and update CIO dashboard metrics, ensuring thresholds are defined and reporting is consistent across the year.
- Support IT planning activities, including partnering with EPMO for Run vs. Change intake, ensuring all data inputted into the frameworks is correct and be the support contact for clarity reviews
Information Governance
- Advance and operationalize Gore Mutual’s enterprise information governance in partnership with the CIO, IT Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and key business stakeholders.
- Maintain and evolve the Data Governance Framework, including policies for data classification, handling, and ownership, ensuring they remain current and effective.
- Coordinate with business and IT teams to reinforce data ownership accountability and ensure roles are clearly defined and upheld.
- Monitor and manage data quality tools and processes, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
- Deliver enhancements to unstructured data governance across Microsoft 365, ensuring visibility, control, and compliance through BAU processes.
- Facilitate training, workshops, and stakeholder engagement to promote data governance best practices and foster a culture of stewardship.
CIO Dashboard & Metrics
- Maintain the monthly framework for CIO dashboard inputs and create new templates where required for effective storytelling and data reporting.
- Follow up with IT and business stakeholders on out-of-tolerance metrics and ensure thresholds are defined.
- Document and manage the master data set for dashboard metrics across the year.
- Lead annual reviews of dashboard metrics for relevance and accuracy.
What will you need to succeed?
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, and/or related field of study
- 5-10 years of experience in the following areas:
Strategic IT Communications
- Experience developing and executing communication plans.
- Familiarity with communication platforms (e.g., , SharePoint).
Governance & Reporting
- Proven track record managing governance forums (e.g., ITC, TechOps, Board reporting).
- Experience preparing performance reports, dashboards, and executive summaries.
Information Governance (BAU)
- Experience maintaining data governance frameworks and tools.
- Familiarity with data classification, ownership models, and compliance standards.
Stakeholder Engagement & Management
- Experience working cross-functionally with IT, business units, and executive leadership.
- Ability to facilitate workshops, training sessions, and committee meetings.
- Proven track record of stakeholder management including at the senior leadership level.
Project & Program Coordination
- Experience managing workback schedules, milestone tracking, and intake processes.
Tool & Platform Proficiency
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with data governance tools (e.g., data cataloging, metadata management).
Business Skills: Stakeholder Management,Executive Communication,Understanding of Information Governance & Compliance,Strategic Planning and Change Management
