The purpose of this role is to facilitate the day-to-day operations of both corporate accounting and treasury, including payments, deposits, routine journal entries and reconciliations. This role reports to the manager of Corporate Accounting. 

What will you be doing in this role?

 Daily treasury operations including cheque printing run, daily banking transactions, cheque verification requests 

  • Printing cheques 2-3 times per week, tracking and reporting of cheque stock through serial numbers, Quality check on the print job, brining cheques to the mailroom. 
  • Uploading positive pay files to the bank, initiating stop requests 
  • Verifying the accuracy of cheques that have been flagged by the bank and investigating their validity 
  • Investigating cheque exceptions  
  • Investigating and recording recoveries, including providing the necessary information to Gores recovery team 

Preparing monthly bank reconciliations including investigating transactions and communicating with financial institutions and other members of the finance department 

  • Daily banking – performing a reconciliation of transactions in the bank vs transactions recorded in the general ledger, flagging outliers and correcting any unreconciled amounts 
  • Monthly bank reconciliations – preparing monthly bank reconciliations in a timely manner 
  • Recording journal entries for any discrepancies identified in the daily banking or the monthly bank reconciliations 

Other duties to support the corporate accounting functions

  • Submitting payments in the banking portal for approval 
  • Reconciling suspense accounts that are closely related to treasury and investigating unreconciled amounts.   
  • Supporting requests from internal and external stakeholders through the corporate accounting inbox 
  • Assisting with the accounts payable process as needed (i.e. Vacation or help needed) 

What will you need to succeed in this role?

  • Community College degree in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
  • 3 years' experience in Treasury (cash management), general accounting or bookkeeping 
  • Experience from Financial institution (bank or insurance company)
  • Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills 
  • Good Communication skills and ability to interact with cross functional teams 
  • MS Excel, ability to compare large volume of data and identify discrepancies

The expected base salary range for this position is $52,500 - $86,500. Depending on your relevant experience, skills, qualifications, market conditions and business needs, base compensation may vary. You have the potential to earn more through Gore Mutual’s discretionary bonus program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.

Please note: This range reflects the expected base salary for this role but may not represent the full compensation range for all experience and skill levels. During the recruitment process, we will discuss and consider how your unique qualifications align with the broader range for this position.
