SUMMARY:

As a Designer in the Product team, you will be responsible for creating and developing jewelry collections that embody the gorjana aesthetic.

The Designer will be responsible for creating commercially viable product designs for categories/collections. You will  present and deliver brand-right designs that tie back to the overall concept and business strategy; encompassing style, color(s), fit and construction for new/existing product lines.

You will have a strong eye for fashion and trend, excellent design skills, and a deep understanding of materials, construction, and the gorjana customer's style. You will be responsible for creating original jewelry concepts, translating them into technical drawings, and collaborating with production teams to bring designs to life.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 


Design

  • Conceptualize and design unique jewelry pieces that fit the brand DNA 
  • Create sketches and detailed CAD designs for new / existing collections (as needed)
  • Collaborate with product development and production to ensure feasibility and quality
  • Present design concepts to leadership stakeholders and revise based on feedback
  • Assist in quality control and oversee the prototype process to ensure design integrity
    • Create detailed tech packs, focusing on construction, drapes and finishing techniques to ensure first prototypes come in accurate and in line with the brand's expectations
  • Deliver product designs with flawless execution; achieving goals with speed, agility and acute attention to detail
    • Lead to ensure department calendar timelines are being met 
    • Review collections to identify potential pricing and sourcing issues 
  • Lead for daily factory communication regarding sample details, lead times, estimated costs and general collection logistics
    • Ensure changes to design standards are communicated and updated within Vendor Guidelines
    • Partner with Production Manager for construction changes to maximize Quality Control efforts
  • Seasonal Design
    • Create detailed tech packs with all specs for approved sketches; Issue SP#s and work within WFX for the specified season
    • Move all completed tech packs into sampling 
    • Respond to 3D images and communicate with factories on all design related details
    • Determine if there will be any special packaging or display options needed and simultaneously coordinate with Visual Merchandising Manager

 

Trend Analysis 

  • Research fashion trends, vintage designs, materials, and production techniques to inform design direction
    • Online research; WGSN trend reports, blogs, ecommerce sites, trade reports
    • In-person research; trend shopping, major visits, trade shows, fast fashion, fine jewelry, high end contemporary
    • Look for visual inspiration, trends, and ideas from other sources; Art, museums, architecture, clothing, prints, furniture, etc…
  • Create an AI file or inspiration board using magazine tears, web images, fabric tears and any other visuals
  • Create a color story that corresponds w/ the season theme and trends
  • Create an inspiration board that represents the design aesthetic of the season with focus on our hero pieces/collection

 

Product Management

  • Maintain an organized portfolio of past and current designs
  • Update linesheets throughout the season, both with sketches and color and ensure all information is accurate by collaborating with cross functional team
  • Implement processes to understand/anticipate the needs of the customer in order to exceed customer expectations and readily react to their needs
  • Identify and recommend resources in sourcing new ideas, both internally and externally, and conduct ongoing competitor research/trend analysis
  • Collaborate and communicate with key partners throughout the design process including Merchandising, Production, and Product Development
  • Seasonal Line sheets;
    • Coordinate sample photography with Content
    • Track correct samples are shot and any edits are noted
    • Design seasonal line sheet
  • Collection Set Up
    • Assign style numbers
    • Build pricing document based on received sample invoices
    • Track Product details received from vendors – cut, carats, color, etc.
    • Partner with Production Manager to identify production risks based on sample history
    • Support coordination of product testing
  • Update all Product details in WFX and move to Production or advise of PP needs 
  • Review and final comment all PP samples received

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience as a Jewelry Designer or similar role.
  • Proficiency in CAD software.
  • Strong sketching and illustration abilities.
  • Knowledge of jewelry /accessories manufacturing processes.
  • Attention to detail and cost with a creative and innovative mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Degree or diploma in Jewelry Design, Fine Arts, Fashion Design, or related field (preferred but not required).
  • Portfolio demonstrating a range of styles and techniques.
  • Ability to understand and be flexible to the needs of the business.    
  • Must be over the age of 18.
