The team continues to expand and we're after a Senior Manager, Recruiting will lead the talent acquisition strategy for Gotion Illinois, overseeing the recruitment of top-tier talent to support our manufacturing operations and technical innovation in the energy storage sector. This role requires deep expertise in recruiting for manufacturing or technical hardware roles, with a strong preference for experience in energy storage systems (ESS) or adjacent industries. The Senior Manager will build and lead a high-performing recruitment team, partner with cross-functional leaders, and ensure a seamless, candidate-centric hiring process that aligns with Gotion’s growth objectives in building a 40GW ESS Facility hiring 2600 employees, enabling what is over a $2B investment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Talent Acquisition Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive recruitment strategy to attract and retain top talent for manufacturing, engineering, and technical roles, with a focus on ESS and related industries.

  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of five Recruiters, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence with team members situated across Illinois and California. 

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with department heads (e.g., Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations and Corporate) to understand hiring needs, define job requirements, and align recruitment efforts with business goals.

  • Candidate Sourcing: Own leadership and confidential hiring by leveraging innovative sourcing techniques, including job boards, social media, industry networks, and partnerships with universities or technical institutes, to build a robust pipeline of qualified candidates.

  • Process Optimization: Streamline the end-to-end recruitment process, from role planning to onboarding, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and a positive candidate experience.

  • Employer Branding: Collaborate with HR and Communications teams to build Gotion’s employer brand, showcasing our commitment to sustainability, innovation, and career growth.

  • Metrics & Reporting: Track and analyze recruitment metrics (e.g., time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, candidate satisfaction) to drive continuous improvement and report progress to senior leadership.

  • Compliance: Ensure all recruitment activities comply with federal and state labor laws, including EEOC, OFCCP, and other relevant regulations.

  • University Recruiting: Oversee UR programs, and ensure we're building bridges between Students and opportunity in the region. 
  • Industry Engagement: Stay informed on trends in manufacturing, ESS, and technical hardware industries to anticipate talent needs and maintain a competitive edge. 

  • Community: Build strong synergies and bridge programs between local communities, training and ultimately opportunities. 

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

    • Scaling experience, ideally from hundreds to thousands across exempt and non exempt. 
    • Proven experience recruiting for manufacturing or technical hardware roles, ideally within the ESS industry or adjacent sectors (e.g., automotive, renewable energy, battery technology).

    • Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing recruitment teams.

  • Skills:

    • Deep knowledge of recruitment strategies for technical and manufacturing roles, including sourcing passive candidates.

    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop talent.

    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage with candidates, hiring managers, and senior leadership.

    • Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (Ideally Greenhouse) and recruitment tools (e.g., LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed).

    • Analytical mindset with experience using recruitment metrics to drive decision-making.

    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while managing multiple priorities.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Direct experience in ESS or battery manufacturing recruitment.

    • Established network within the renewable energy or advanced manufacturing sectors.

    • Familiarity with Illinois labor market dynamics and regional talent pools.

Work Environment

  • Full-time position based in Manteno, Illinois, with occasional travel for industry events, job fairs, or alternate Gotion locations.

  • Fast-paced, collaborative environment with a focus on innovation and sustainability.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $145,000 - $165,000 + 15-20% bonus + benefits + relocation. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, candidate and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
