Aftermarket Director – Battery Solutions
Job Summary
The Aftermarket & Circularity team owns the full post-sale lifecycle for EV battery packs/modules and energy storage systems—service quality, spare parts, reverse logistics, and recycling/second-life. We partner closely with Cell/Pack Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Legal/EHS to drive customer uptime and cost control. Current priorities include launching a Midwest service hub, standing up PFEP/S&OP and 3PL performance, standardizing RTP for hazardous shipments, and piloting recycler partnerships. Initial team size is a small leadership nucleus scaling through 2026.
Role Summary / Background Information:
This role builds and leads Gotion’s North America battery aftermarket business, delivering best-in-class customer experience and unit economics across service operations, parts, reverse logistics, and recycling/circularity. The Director will define the operating model and KPIs (uptime, FTF, MTTR, parts fill, warranty cost), establish compliant HV battery handling and hazmat flows, and convert field insights into offerings and design-for-serviceability improvements. Success includes a 90-day stand-up plan, a 12–18-month KPI trajectory, and a scalable organization aligned to growth.
Key Responsibilities (3–5 bullets):
Stand up a hub-and-spoke service model with remote diagnostics, playbooks, escalation, and HV safety/LOTO; drive uptime, FTF, MTTR, CSAT/NPS.
• Establish PFEP/S&OP, parts BOM governance, min/max, and 3PL performance; design/manage RTP and hazardous shipping (UN3480/3481) with full chain-of-custody.
• Qualify reman/recycling partners; set SLAs for turnaround, recovery yields (Li/Ni/Co/Cu/Al), and cost/ton; implement repair-vs-reman-vs-recycle gates and state EPR readiness.
• Own warranty and extended-coverage policy and cost controls; translate field learnings into service offerings and engineering feedback for design-for-serviceability.
• Build the org (people/vendors), AOP/budget, dashboards, and monthly executive readouts across customer, operations, financials, and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
• Bachelor’s in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field.
• 10+ years in aftermarket/after-sales/service operations (EV battery, automotive, or ESS); 5+ years leading multi-disciplinary teams.
• Working knowledge of Li-ion pack architecture, diagnostics/commissioning, and failure modes.
• Hands-on experience with PFEP/S&OP, 3PL performance, RTP programs, and hazardous materials logistics (DOT/IATA).
• Regulatory fluency (or rapid ramp) across EPA RCRA/Universal Waste, DOT/IATA (UN3480/3481), OSHA HV safety; familiarity with state EPR trends.
• Data/ops capability (network design, cost modeling, KPI dashboards); ability to travel 30–40%.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
• MBA or advanced degree.
• EV/ESS OEM or battery recycling/circularity experience with measurable KPI improvements (FTF, MTTR, warranty cost, recovery yield).
• BI/SQL familiarity; start-up/build-from-zero environments.
