Electrical Engineer – Construction & Capital Projects
Location: Manteno, IL
Department: Engineering / Capital Projects
Work Arrangement: 100% On-Site
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to support the planning, design, construction, and commissioning of electrical infrastructure for large-scale industrial and manufacturing facilities. This role will provide technical expertise for facility expansion, utility infrastructure, and capital construction projects while collaborating with engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance teams.
The ideal candidate has experience designing and supporting industrial electrical systems, is proficient in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks, and possesses strong knowledge of medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and support electrical systems for new construction, facility expansions, and capital improvement projects.
- Develop, review, and revise electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, wiring diagrams, and installation packages.
- Create and modify engineering drawings using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
- Support construction teams throughout project execution, ensuring installations meet engineering specifications and applicable codes.
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, controls, facilities, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Assist with equipment selection, electrical load calculations, short-circuit studies, voltage drop calculations, and system sizing.
- Provide technical support during equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Review contractor submittals, RFIs, engineering change requests, and as-built documentation.
- Support electrical infrastructure improvements for manufacturing equipment and facility utilities.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and applicable local electrical codes and standards.
- Participate in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution of multiple capital projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3–5 years of experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, or construction projects.
- Experience working in manufacturing facilities, industrial plants, or large commercial construction environments.
- Strong understanding of engineering documentation and construction practices.
Required Technical Skills
Electrical Engineering
- Expert knowledge of facility electrical distribution systems
- Experience with external utility electrical infrastructure
- Strong understanding of medium-voltage electrical systems and below
- Knowledge of low-voltage power distribution systems
- Electrical equipment sizing and specification
- Power distribution design
- Electrical load calculations
- Voltage drop calculations
- Short-circuit and coordination principles
Design Software
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Experience with SolidWorks preferred
- Ability to create and modify engineering drawings and electrical layouts
Engineering Documentation
- Ability to read, interpret, create, and revise:
- Electrical one-line diagrams
- Three-line diagrams
- Wiring diagrams
- Panel schedules
- Control schematics
- Construction drawings
- Equipment layouts
- As-built documentation

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting industrial construction or capital projects.
- Knowledge of industrial power distribution, substations, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and backup power systems.
- Familiarity with utility coordination and electrical permitting.
- Experience working with contractors during construction and commissioning.
- Knowledge of PLC-controlled manufacturing environments is a plus.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.

Base pay is one part of our total compensation package at Gotion, and is determined within a range. This provides you with the opportunity to progress as you grow and advance your career at Gotion. The base pay range for this role is shown below, and will depend on your skills, qualifications, experiences, and location.
Expected Pay Range
$90,000 - $120,000 USD
