Principal Product Manager AI

Arlington, Virginia, United States; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States

Company Description

Govini transforms Defense Acquisition from an outdated manual process to a software-driven strategic advantage for the United States. Our flagship product, Ark, supports Supply Chain, Science & Technology, Production, Sustainment, Logistics, and Modernization teams with AI-enabled Applications and best-in-class data to more rapidly imagine, develop, and field the capabilities we need. Today, the national security community and every branch of the military rely on Govini to enable faster and more informed Acquisition decisions.

Job Description

  • We are seeking a customer-obsessed product manager to drive the development and integration of AI/ML capabilities within Ark. This is an individual contributor role responsible for defining, prioritizing, and delivering AI/ML solutions that enhance our Applications and transform how current and future users make critical decisions.

As the AI/ML Product Manager, you will own the AI/ML roadmap and therefore be accountable for identifying opportunities where artificial intelligence and machine learning can deliver meaningful value to our customers, translating complex technical capabilities into user-friendly solutions, and ensuring the successful integration of our models and algorithms into Ark.  You will need to think strategically about how to position Govini as a leader in Defense AI, identify competitive advantages and market opportunities through AI/ML capabilities, and drive strategic decisions about how AI/ML innovations differentiate Govini in the marketplace.  You will partner with data scientists, ML engineers, application-aligned PMs, and our engagement teams to identify high-impact use cases, define requirements for ML-powered features, and ensure seamless delivery of intelligent capabilities that scale across our customer base. In this role, you will bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI/ML research and practical defense acquisition applications.

In order to do this job well, you must possess a moderate technical understanding of AI/ML methodologies and emerging technology combined with exceptional product judgment to identify opportunities where AI/ML can deliver measurable customer value. You must work effectively cross-functionally in often ambiguous circumstances, translating complex technical capabilities into clear product requirements and articulating the value of AI/ML solutions both internally and externally to non-technical stakeholders.

In a typical week, an AI/ML product manager could expect to:

    • Spend time on site with users, seeking to understand their pain points and triangulate the commonalities where AI/ML can automate manual processes, enhance decision-making, or provide predictive insights.
    • Write detailed product requirements documents (PRDs) and user stories for AI/ML features.
    • Collaborate with data science and AI/ML engineering teams to assess the feasibility of proposed solutions.
    • Partner with designers and Application PMs to integrate AI/ML capabilities seamlessly into existing Ark workflows, ensuring models enhance rather than disrupt user experiences.
    • Work with the sales team to articulate the value proposition of AI/ML features to prospective customers and understand market demand for intelligent automation.
    • Define success metrics for AI/ML initiatives.

    Scope of Responsibilities

    • Define and communicate the AI/ML product strategy and roadmap aligned with Govini's positioning, mission, and customer needs
    • Identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities where AI/ML can transform user workflows
    • Validate concepts using the value proposition canvas/business model canvas, build a comprehensive business case, and communicate and defend the prioritization internally
    • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform AI/ML product positioning
    • Partner with data science, AI/ML, and software engineering teams to scope the expected associated investment costs/timelines, and ensure that the business can deliver on
    • Facilitate market introduction of new features/functions while balancing tradeoffs of risk, cost, and speed
    • Ensure smooth integration of prototyped features/functions into Ark for utilization across customer accounts

This is a full-time team member position, working in one of our offices at our Arlington, VA or Pittsburgh, PA locations.

This role may require up to 40% travel

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required
Required Skills:
  • 5+ years of product management experience with at least 3 years focused on AI/ML products or data-driven solutions
  • Experience with ML development lifecycle, including data preparation, model training, validation, deployment, and monitoring

  • Strong value orientation, understanding of what matters for our customers, and why
  • Self-starter, owner mentality
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills across all levels of the business
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or technology-related field

Desired Skills:

  • Current possession of a U.S. security clearance, or the ability to obtain one with our sponsorship
  • Experience in or exposure to the nuances of a startup or other entrepreneurial environment
  • Experience in or around the DoW
  • Full product lifecycle experience, from early idea through production and maintenance
  • Familiarity with the value proposition canvas and/or business model canvas frameworks

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
