Director/Group Product Manager - Licensing, Tax and Compliance

We are looking for a Product Leader to join at an exciting growth point for the company. Reporting into the CPO, this position will be responsible for setting the growth and innovation trajectory for the key part of our product portfolio. This hands-on contributor role will manage a small team of product managers while working closely with UX, Engineering and QA teams.
In this role, you will own the direction for the Licensing and Registration, and Tax and Compliance suites. You will work with customers, implementation teams, support teams, sales engineering team to gather product ideas that are then turned into product roadmap. You will also be responsible for defining a strategy to increase the TAM by moving up market, adding addon services to the existing suites and looking for product opportunities to expand the portfolio.
Success in the role will be measured on the overall revenue growth of the product suites and through the timely execution of product deliverables.
- Own and define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the GovOS Licensing and Registration, and Tax and Compliance suites.
- Effectively collaborate with all parts of the organization to arrive at a highly defensible product roadmap that drives customer outcomes and revenue growth. As a professional prioritizer – you can prioritize among competing opportunities, balance technical needs with business priorities, and articulate the rationale behind decisions.
- Work in partnership with Engineering Leadership in defining the quarterly plan and sprint plans for delivering the roadmap with precise timelines and highest quality.
- Work with support, implementation, customer success teams to understand areas of improvement that will lead to lowering the cost of managing the product and improve customer satisfaction.
- Be the voice of the customer by proactively identifying and resolving customer issues to increase customer satisfaction and net retention.
- Interact with internal stakeholders to ensure everyone has visibility and accountability in the plan and collate any information you need to achieve this.
- Establish metrics and milestones to track progress of the product towards the overall goals and vision.
- Translate complex, technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences at all levels across the business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Platform Vision and Strategy
- Own and define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the GovOS Licensing and Registration, and Tax and Compliance suites.
- Understand the market dynamics, competitive dynamics and customer insights to educate yourself and entire organization on the strategy, direction and roadmap of the product.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to ensure platform strategies align with overall business goals and market demands.
- Lead the exploration and implementation of new technologies and methodologies to enhance platform capabilities.
- Translate complex, technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences at all levels across the business.
- Translate complex customer requirements into generic, configurable functionality that can impact overall use of the product in multitude of use cases in the future.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of product managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
- Oversee recruitment, performance management, and professional development within the product management team, ensuring it is equipped to meet evolving business needs.
- Promote continuous learning and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the team delivers impactful solutions.
Cross-functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Effectively collaborate with all parts of the organization to arrive at a highly defensible product roadmap that drives customer outcomes and revenue growth. As a professional prioritizer – you can prioritize among competing opportunities, balance technical needs with business priorities, and articulate the rationale behind decisions.
- Work in partnership with Engineering Leadership in defining the quarterly plan and sprint plans for delivering the roadmap with precise timelines and highest quality.
- Work closely in partnership with User Experience (UX) team to design the product in advance of the quarterly planning in order to ease the planning process.
- Work with support, implementation, customer success teams to understand areas of improvement that will lead to lowering the cost of managing the product and improve customer satisfaction.
Customer Centricity
- Be the voice of the customer by proactively identifying and resolving customer issues to increase customer satisfaction and net retention.
- Use customer interactions as a tool to identify the pain points and solutions to remediate those pain points.
- Track and deliver to the commitments made to the customers by aligning roadmap delivery.
Metrics Driven
- Establish metrics and milestones to track progress of the product towards the overall goals and vision.
- Identify and collect product usage metrics to ensure the effectiveness of the product and product roadmap delivered.
Growth and Future Planning
- Anticipate future platform needs, including scaling, technical enhancements, and integration with emerging technologies.
- Develop strategies to ensure the platform continues to deliver value as the business evolves, staying ahead of industry trends.
- Provide leadership on the scalability of the platform, building growth planning into product strategies to support long-term success.
Qualifications:
Experience and Expertise
- 10+ years of Product Management experience leading B2B enterprise SaaS products for mid-market and enterprise customers.
- 5+ years of experience is leading multiple product portfolio working within an agile development framework.
- At least 5 years in a leadership role managing product teams aligned with engineering team of 40+ people.
- Proven record of driving business growth, customer satisfaction over an extended period of time.
- Understanding revenue and business objectives for the product suite and work with the sales/marketing team to achieve the objective
- Experience managing licensing, tax, ERP, HRMS, CRM solutions is highly desired.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or equivalent experience building complex SaaS products as an engineer or engineering leader.
Leadership and Communication Skills
- Experience collaborating with leadership, engineering, user experience and other product managers in a complex organization of interdependent products.
- Understanding of product and engineering resourcing and able to plan the roadmap and be able to make tradeoff conversations with stakeholders
- Experience working with broader organization on a regular basis to look at different support, implementation metrics to ensure continuous improvement of product metrics.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire large engineering teams, managing cross-functional projects and driving organizational change.
Problem-Solving and Innovation
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data to back up assumptions and recommendations and drive actions.
- A strong system thinker who can deconstruct complex problems into smaller parts.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with a track record of addressing and overcoming technical and operational challenges in fast-paced, resource constrained environments.
Compensation & Benefits
- $170,000 - 180,000 annual base + bonus
