As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the GovOS County Fusion Application. You’ll develop new features, fix bugs, and help drive continuous improvements to ensure our product meets the evolving needs of our customers. The product is an on-prem product that is written in Java 1.8. It consists of both thick client using Swing and web-based components using JQuery.   

Responsibilities  

• You work well independently. You will be the primary developer for this product, working closely with the Development Manager and a QA person to continue to update the application as the customers’ needs change.
• You enjoy working in a large code base that encompasses both thick and thin client components, web services, and interfaces to other systems at the customer sites.
• You can drive your work to completion without close supervision.
• You strive to write code that focuses on: Reliability, Scalability, Security, Usability, & Maintainability
• You can troubleshoot problems in a large project, using logs from customers to help find the cause of issues when they arise. 

Qualifications 

• Programming: 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java, preferably both in a Swing and Web environment
• Architectural Skills: Familiarity with client/server architectures.
• Database Proficiency: Strong knowledge of SQL databases, preferably MySQL and/or SQL Server.
