The Gradient Learning Program offers schools a whole-student system to help schools realize their vision for whole-student growth. Our whole student system is a curated and integrated suite of research-based tools and resources, including rigorous curricula, teacher and leader resources and trainings, whole student assessments and data displays, as well as ongoing, customized coaching for school leadership teams. The program is utilized by hundreds of schools across the U.S. to fuel their whole student work.

Along is a free, interactive video journal that helps teachers guide their students to reflect and grow all year long--whether they’re back in the classroom or learning remotely. Along brings skill-building resources and efficient communication into a dedicated space where every student feels seen and heard.

Director - Data Operations & Program Management


Position Overview

The Gradient Learning Program offers schools a Whole Student System to help schools realize their vision for Whole Student growth. The Whole Student System is a curated and integrated suite of research-based tools and resources, including rigorous curricula, teacher and leader resources and training, whole student assessments, and data displays, housed on a customized learning platform (powered by the Canvas learning management system). This suite of tools and resources is supplemented by ongoing, customized coaching for school leadership teams.

We are seeking a Director of Data Operations & Program Management to lead internal data strategy and operational excellence across Gradient Learning’s Program Team. This role ensures that the data, feedback, and operational systems supporting our Whole Student System are effective, integrated, and actionable—empowering teams to deliver meaningful support to schools and students.

This position reports to the Managing Director of Program Delivery and works closely with cross-functional teams across Program, Partnerships, and Information Systems & Security

 

The Director of Data Operations & Program Management will: 

Lead Internal Program Data Strategy & Operations

  • Understand and align internal program data operations to the evolving needs of the Program Success and Delivery Teams.
  • Develop and maintain scalable data systems that support effective coaching, school support, and program implementation.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and accessible data for program leaders and team members. 
  • Design and lead a comprehensive survey strategy to capture stakeholder feedback, including educators, school leaders, and internal teams.
  • Integrate survey results into broader data systems and reporting frameworks to inform program improvements and strategic planning.
  • Build and maintain internal program dashboards and reporting tools to enable performance monitoring, continuous improvement, and strategic decision-making.

Oversee Cross-Functional Projects in support of overall Program Management

  • Lead cross-functional program initiatives (i.e., maintaining the annual program outcome map, managing program releases) critical to the success of the overall program 
  • Align project execution with broader organizational and program goals.

Support Program Data Infrastructure and Insights

  • Identify and surface internal program needs and interests for data pipeline and reporting infrastructure improvements (in partnership with Director of Data & Insights Product and Managing Director of Information Systems and Security)
  • Provide programmatic insights for strategic metrics and reportingIdentify opportunities to leverage AI tools to automate data workflows, surface program insights, and support scalable reporting and decision-making.

Lead and Develop a High-Performing Team

  • Set clear, strategic team goals that reflect organizational priorities and values.
  • Support team member growth and performance through coaching, strength-based feedback, and regular performance check-ins.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and joyful team culture where every individual feels valued, supported, and empowered to do their best work.

Data Expertise & Technical Fluency

  • Has strong expertise in data visualization and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Salesforce) and can translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Experienced in survey design and analysis, with a focus on collecting high-quality feedback and translating it into actionable insights.
  • Working knowledge of AI-powered tools to increase efficiency, generate insights, and support decision-making.

Project Management and  Collaborative Communication

  • Proven success managing multi-stakeholder projects, including timelines, deliverables, and communications.
  • Communicates confidently with diverse stakeholders—from executives to engineers to educators—and tailors messages to meet different audience needs.
  • Applies a user-centered mindset, consistently gathering feedback from school partners to improve product value and usability.

Location
Our work is national in scope, and our team is virtual. Location for this role is flexible within the continental United States.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to uphold Gradient Learning values.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred). 
  • 5+ years experience working in the K-12 space, i.e., in schools, educational nonprofits, and educational technology companies (required) 
  • 3+ years data strategy and operations experience (required)
  • 3+ years project management experience (required)
  • 3+ years of people management experience (required)
  • Experience designing and developing impactful reports and data visualizations using Salesforce and Tableau to support strategic decision-making (strongly preferred)
  • Experience using AI tools to support data analysis, automation, or programmatic decision-making (strongly preferred).
  • Experience with Snowflake or comparable cloud-based data warehousing platforms (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with Canvas LMS (preferred)
  • Knowledge of data privacy, security, and protection standards, particularly as they relate to PII and educational data (FERPA, COPPA, etc.) (preferred) 
  • A clear background check.
  • An ability to travel 20%.

 

What You Can Expect From Us:

Gradient Learning offers full-time employees competitive salaries and benefits. The beginning range for this role is $129,000-$140,000, with candidates typically starting at the beginning portion of the range; this enables the employee's growth in the range over time. The actual placement of the range depends on the candidate's qualifications, internal equity considerations, and the budget earmarked for this role.

Candidates living in the following areas will receive a cost of labor increase of:

  • SF Bay Area: +10%
  • New York Metro Area:  +5%
