About Product Management
As a Product Manager at Grafana Labs, you'll develop a vision and strategy for your product domain. You will own your product’s roadmap, collateral, and market research, and you will collaborate with Grafana leadership on fine-tuning your product’s goals. You will be the primary advocate and expert in your area, with a strong ability to communicate needs, functionality, and details effectively both to external customers and internal stakeholders. The teams and people you will be interacting with will be 100% remote and globally distributed, so strong and proactive communication is essential.
Product Managers are the bridge that connect Engineering, Design, and UX to GTM. You are a facilitator who ensures the free flow of information across these teams and are expected to be technically proficient when representing our products to our customers.
The Role
As the Product Manager for Database Observability (DB O11y) you’ll be responsible for our Cloud-exclusive database monitoring product. DB O11y provides our customers with deep, actionable insights into their database environments. This product enables applications developers and database admins to surface, troubleshoot, and optimize latency problems and slow running queries across the critical database infrastructure that underpins a company’s core business applications.
In your role as Product Manager (PM), you’ll be paired with a lead PM. Together, your ultimate responsibility will be to ensure the long-term success of DB O11y through collaboration with your engineering counterparts. The DB O11y product is currently in Private Preview and in early testing with a few select customers. The most critical, immediate short-term goal is to validate the core customer problems to ensure that the solution we’re building meets their use cases. Together with your lead PM, you’ll also be putting together and finalizing packaging and pricing proposals as we work towards a full launch.
In addition to external requirements, you’ll also be working with other teams across the Observability department to ensure the DB O11y experience is tightly woven into our overall Grafana Cloud suite of products. This means integrating the product into the Asserts knowledge graph so that our customers have a seamless monitoring experience where they can easily navigate between different layers of their architecture as they triage issues using our product.
As a Product Manager at Grafana Labs, you will:
- Transform ideas and feedback into a product vision and roadmap
- Empathize with customer problems in order to collect user needs, requirements, and pain points
- Curate and properly represent user feedback to Engineering, while providing evidence to support tradeoffs and priorities
- Work closely with PMM to enable GTM on product differentiation, including creating and updating presentations, documentation, website content, datasheets, and whitepapers.
- Use your deep product expertise to make decisions about our go-to-market strategies, pricing, packaging, licensing and tiering
We’re excited about you because you have:
- A BS/BA in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of experience in Product Management
- 3+ years of experience in a B2B SaaS product
- Experience using or building observability products and/or developer tools, either internally as an SRE or for external customers
- Experience with open source software and/or commercial open source companies
- Experience working with engineering teams to design and build products in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bonus Points
- Experience with OpenTelemetery protocols, receivers, and exporters
- Experience as a DBA or running, provisioning, managing relational databases
- Experience using or building agents, telemetry collectors, or related tools and services
- Experience partnering with UX to build delightful features with solid designs
In the US, the base compensation range for this role is $139,000 - $174,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed in the interview process. Benefits include equity, bonus (if applicable) and other benefits listed here.
*Compensation ranges are country-specific. If you are applying for this role from a different location than listed above, your recruiter will discuss your specific market’s defined pay range & benefits at the beginning of the process.
