3D Artist

The vision for our Global Marketing Creative Team at Zynga is informed by an aggressive pursuit of new and different ideas, rapid creative development, and efficient production. We develop creative executions across paid and owned channels that invite and encourage millions of players worldwide to take part in our games as well as keep players engaged, informed, and rewarded for their active participation. Our creative and production processes prioritize achieving both performance objectives and execution excellence while we all endeavor to foster a collaborative culture that embraces and drives creative trends in the mobile acquisition space.

A 3D Artist on this Marketing Creative team is a technically proficient and creatively inspired 3D generalist, able to create and render outstanding scenes for use in all manner of marketing executions - primarily for paid channel advertising (user acquisition) and iOS/Google Play app store assets. 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to an efficient pipeline of 3D content for use in UA advertising and app store assets, as well as social/community and LiveOps marketing executions
  • Collaboration with Art leads, Art Directors, Motion Graphic Designers, and Graphic Designers to provide the most useful 3D-rendered content for use in advertising and marketing executions
  • Gather ideas about the overall production pipeline to plan accordingly for diverse projects/requirements
  • Spontaneous with rigging/animating characters/creatures to meet the expected output
  • Able to drive out quick production solutions for diverse projects minimizing production time
  • A planned approach to retopology so that existing game rigs/animations can be re-used
  • Able to achieve set dressing/ environment setup using existing game assets
  • Identifying opportunities for production efficiencies, pipeline issues, and the ability to recommend and advocate for improvements when appropriate.
  • Able to read existing animations keyframes and add to them to achieve the desired result
  • Approach production with a flexible 3D pipeline so that feedback and deliveries can be done within a competitive deadline & minimum production loss
  • Able to curate new tech and strengthen the production pipeline accordingly with time & advancements
  • Able to quickly learn the general team production workflow and adapt to the same

Skills and Experience Required

  • 5 - 7 years of experience working as a 3D Artist/Generalist preferably from the mobile games industry
  • Expert proficiency with Maya, Blender, Substance Painter & other industry 3D software
  • Expert ability to retopologize game assets into high poly models with updated textures/rig/animation
  • Should poses good rigging skills for 3D models (binary/quadruple / expressions / inorganic ) to achieve the desired output
  • Strong understanding of core animation principles
  • Good with key-based 3D animation ( binary / quadruple / inorganic / camera )
  • Should be able to replicate game animation / add on to existing animation as per requirement
  • Good understanding of lighting principals & different forms of 3D lighting ( HDR / diffused / character / environment )
  • Should be able to understand different visual styles for games and replicate them through 3D renders
  • Should have a well-planned approach to identify the best solution & accomplish any given project within a competitive deadline.
  • Being good with Unreal & Unity workflow will be a plus
  • A decent understanding of Z-Brush & Red-Shift will be a plus
  • Great organizational & communication skills with a team-first attitude
  • Self-motivated and strong time-management skills.
  • A passion for 3D art & animation, video games, and marketing/commercial art
