The Opportunity
To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re seeking a data-driven, customer-obsessed Senior Product Design Manager who is craft and people-centered to join our Monetization team within the Growth Area. Your team will shape how Grammarly’s AI capabilities are showcased to professionals and students, demonstrating why Grammarly is their top AI writing partner!
You’ll drive the strategy and execution of our Monetization experimentation, creating compelling purchase experiences, intuitive and personalized conversion moments, encouraging renewals, and showcasing contextual product value to our high-intent customers. You’ll collaborate with a diverse, dynamic team of growth experts committed to innovation and experimentation, and lead a team of talented product and content designers.
In this role, you’ll focus on:
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate, identify, and prioritize opportunities by working with growth leaders in Product Management, Engineering, Data Science, and Research. Strategically plan effective new Monetization features, experiences, frameworks, and processes while ensuring alignment and clarity between design and partners.
- Design Strategy: Own the critical purchase journeys for our users and identify drop-offs and opportunities for more seamless and delightful experiences. With our multi-product future, incubate and socialize how we will transform the purchase experience across products in the future.
- Experimentation and Learning: Lead your team in designing tests, experiments, and iterative improvements to showcase the right value to our users, driving impactful changes based on data-driven and research insights. Guide your team on how to best integrate user research and insights into their process to ensure user experience enhancements resonate with our audiences.
- Project Execution and Management: Oversee your designers’ process from concept to execution, ensuring timely delivery of projects while maintaining quality and craft standards. Clearly communicate design objectives and requirements to the team. Provide creative vision, user psychology insights, and direction to your team, thinking holistically. Establish and maintain design principles and best practices within the organization, create frameworks, and lead workshop sessions to ensure strong customer-led thinking.
- Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of product and content designers, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment. Attract and hire design talent to the team, offer guidance and support, help them overcome complex challenges, encourage learning and growth opportunities, and assist them in setting achievable career goals. Capture and reflect their accomplishments with partners, leaders, and peers.
- Advocacy: Represent your teams’ work and strategy to executives and leaders and advocate for how it impacts Grammarly’s business objectives. Partner with other Growth leaders on how Growth shares its insights with partner teams to increase impact and integration into core product experiences.
- Inspired Improvement: Explore, discover, and investigate design trends, tools, and technologies, and encourage the team to adopt new methods for improving workflow and output. Inspire the team and partners to push the boundaries and take bigger design leaps.
- Partnerships: Build strong relationships with partners like Core Product, Marketing, Billing and Payments, Coda, and Superhuman. Identify opportunities for operating rhythms, incubating projects, connecting the right people to our initiatives, and exploring new approaches to growing the business.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in a design role, with at least 3+ years in a leadership position. Experience with Saas, growth testing, and Monetization strategies both in the product (ex., conversion, purchase experiences, commerce flows, etc.) and outside of the product (pricing pages, discounts and bundles).
- Proficient in design tools like Figma and Creative Suite.
- Strong communication design skills; can write and relay context, concepts, and business cases with engaging storytelling and impact.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to learn and synthesize quickly—implementing feedback, giving constructive feedback, and positively contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Excited to foster team culture and collaboration, and develop individuals toward goals.
- Knows and understands their leadership style, and is excited to build a team.
- Can adapt between zero-to-one projects and iterative work.
