The Opportunity

As an SEO Manager, you will help grow Grammarly’s visibility and traffic through both traditional search engine optimization (SEO) and emerging generative engine optimization (GEO) strategies.

Reporting to the Director of Organic Acquisition, you’ll work with the SEO Lead to build and execute on innovative SEO strategies across multiple websites (Grammarly, Coda.io, and Superhuman). You’ll collaborate with content strategists, engineers, product marketers, and data analysts to implement best practices, conduct keyword and AI prompt research, optimize onsite content and metadata, support offsite initiatives, and ensure our web properties perform across search engines and AI-driven discovery platforms.

You’ll also contribute to Grammarly’s GEO efforts by analyzing prompt/query patterns, developing optimization guidelines, and supporting experiments that measure how platforms like Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity surface and cite our content.

Through hands-on execution and curiosity about emerging technologies, you’ll help Grammarly stay visible in both established and next-generation search landscapes—making our products discoverable to more users in more ways than ever.

You will:

  • Contribute to a holistic SEO strategy that grows organic search traffic and conversions, and aligns with larger company goals and priorities.
  • Execute SEO projects and optimizations on core landing pages, guided by the SEO lead and broader acquisition strategy.
  • Implement on-page, off-page, and technical SEO best practices.
  • Contribute keyword research, query/prompt analysis, and content optimization recommendations for both traditional search and AI-driven answer engines.
  • Collaborate with the Brand and Acquisition teams, working on new website launches to provide SEO/GEO insights that help introduce new products and features.
  • Assist in selecting tools and/or partners for LLM & GEO tracking and query/prompt exploration.
  • Partner with internal partners or vendors to support frameworks for quantifying the impact of AI search, including analytics, sentiment analysis, and performance metrics.
  • Work with the data science team to contribute metrics and data stories that guide optimizations.
  • Conduct routine site health checks, basic audits, and competitive research to identify opportunities.
  • Work on both B2B and B2C SEO.
  • Monitor SEO and GEO trends and share relevant updates with your immediate team.

Qualifications

  • Is developing well-rounded skills in SEO, with familiarity in on-page, off-site, and technical aspects.
  • Is curious about and has some exposure to GEO/AI-driven search optimization.
  • Uses data to form insights and contribute to decision-making within their immediate team.
  • Has experience prioritizing tasks across short- and medium-term horizons.
  • Collaborates well with immediate and adjacent teams to move projects forward.
  • Delivers high-quality work with minimal rework and takes ownership of tasks from start to finish.
  • Is building knowledge of core Grammarly audiences and considers user impact when making recommendations.
  • Is eager to expand their expertise in SEO, GEO, and AI-driven search trends.
  • Has a demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal guidance, proactively manages tasks and priorities across multiple projects, analyzes and executes work efficiently, collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, and thrives in fast-paced, results-driven environments.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with both B2C and B2B SEO.
  • Experience with International SEO
  • More advanced knowledge of technical SEO
  • Experience with high-traffic-volume websites (greater than 5M visitors/month)
  • Exposure to SEO A/B testing.
  • Experience using enterprise SEO tools (e.g., Ahrefs, Semrush, seoClarity) and/or GEO tracking tools like Profound.
  • Familiarity with AI search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google’s AI Overviews.

Grammarly takes a market-based approach to compensation, which means base pay may vary depending on your location. Our US locations are categorized into two compensation zones based on proximity to our hub locations.

Base pay may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The expected salary ranges for this position are outlined below by compensation zone and may be modified in the future.

United States:
Zone 1: $118,000– $163,000/year (USD)
