Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join Graphcore in defining and implementing a next-generation debugger for our advanced AI processors. In this senior role, you will specify the debugger’s core behaviour, design the user interaction model, and deliver a robust toolchain that enables developers to debug and optimise workloads running on Graphcore hardware. You will work closely with our partners, hardware, software, and customer teams to ensure the debugger meets the needs of both internal and external users.
The Team
Reporting to the Modelling Team Leader, the Staff Engineer is responsible for supporting the delivery of software models of the next generation platforms to allow early software development. They will work in close conjunction with our partners, the hardware and silicon teams on upcoming changes and also with the software teams who will be using the models
Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of a debugger for Graphcore’s current and next-generation processors.
- Collaborate with all colleagues within the software, firmware and hardware engineering teams
- Actively engage in and support Agile ways of working within the team
- Debug issues, resolve bugs and generally improve the quality and functionality of the product
- Mentor colleagues within the team, sharing knowledge and providing guidance where appropriate
- Support the team leader and technical leader when asked
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Proven experience in building debuggers
- Experience developing emulators and simulators
- Experience in designing or implementing debugger user interfaces
- Strong low-level programming skills in C, C++, or Rust.
- Strong understanding of processor architectures
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, good work ethics, high sense of team-work.
- Proactive, self-driven, and committed to delivering high-quality solutions.
Desirable
- Experience of developing IDEs.
- Experience with compiler toolchains.
- Knowledge of debugging protocols and standards.
