Grassroots Analytics (“GA”) maintains a detailed database on more than 20 million active American donors, including data on net worth, ideological preferences, political donation history, non-profit donation history, demographics, and contact information.
Job Description:
Grassroots Analytics is seeking a Fundraising Strategist (FS) to join our team of experts to provide top-tier, individualized fundraising guidance directly to our clients. The FS will collaborate closely with the Director of Campaigns to offer campaigns and nonprofits highly-targeted donor lists, comprehensive fundraising instruction, and industry-leading customer service. This role is ideal for someone passionate about political strategy, relationship building, and empowering progressive campaigns and organizations up and down the ballot.
Responsibilities:
Data Querying & Donor List Building (35%)
- Master the ins-and-outs of Grassroots’ donor database and targeting capabilities.
- Build personalized donor lists for clients based on their profile (type of race, pertinent biographical info, demographics, top-issues, etc.)
- Execute for clients the data services included in our comprehensive “data + strategy” package.
- Provide data targeting recommendations to other members of the Grassroots team – including the Sales and Nonprofit departments.
- Turn around incoming data requests efficiently.
Fundraising Guidance to Campaigns and Nonprofit Clients (35%)
- Act as the primary point-of-contact for your portfolio of clients (to them, you are the face of Grassroots).
- Hold an introductory call with all new clients.
- Assess each client’s level of fundraising knowledge to make relevant recommendations.
- Act as a thought partner to clients; provide strategic advice and collaborate to solve issues as they arise.
- Showcase the value of Grassroots to consultants and firms. Encourage them to refer us to other potential clients.
- Assist the client in building a finance and call time plan.
- Host call time training sessions with clients and their teams.
- Attend on-the-ground embeds with clients at their respective headquarters (usually around large fundraising events).
- Collect client feedback and make recommendations to the Director of Campaigns on how we can improve our service.
- Strive for 85% client retention.
Account Growth and Client Upselling (20%)
- Encourage clients to test other Grassroots products.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with political consultants and firms who can provide ongoing referrals. Make sure these connections are nurtured.
- Meet monthly account growth metrics set by the Director of Campaigns and Revenue department.
- Attend conferences to market yourself and Grassroots to campaigns, political organizations, and nonprofits across the country.
Taking Initiative & Additional Projects (10%)
- Organize Grassroots-hosted fundraisers for clients when they are in town.
- Attend internal team building events (annual retreat, happy hours, professional development sessions, etc.)

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Fundraising Strategist position will:
- Have 1-2 years of experience in political campaign fundraising (ideally as a Finance Director or Call Time Manager).
- Have experience building finance plans, conducting political call time.
- Possess an adept understanding of the political landscape, particularly at the state and local levels.
- Be a skilled relationship builder with the ability to cultivate and maintain a broad network of consultants and clients.
- Demonstrate exceptional communication, writing, and presentation skills; aptitude to convey complex solutions in an accessible manner.
- Be highly organized, capable of managing multiple accounts.
- Prove an ability to turn work around diligently and efficiently; able to meet tight deadlines.
- Have an interest in progressive causes and a desire to support candidates from diverse backgrounds.
Compensation:
The expected salary range for this position is $65,000–$85,000, plus opportunities to earn commission. This role also comes with a competitive benefits package. This is a full-time, in-office position based in our office in Chinatown at 806 7th St NW, Washington, D.C. 20001.
