Senior Digital Strategist
Grassroots Analytics' mission is to provide innovative data solutions to amplify forward-thinking voices, causes, and people.
Grassroots Analytics (“GA”) maintains a detailed database on more than 20 million active American donors, including data on net worth, ideological preferences, political donation history, non-profit donation history, demographics, and contact information.
In GA’s Digital Department, our team of digital experts works to democratize fundraising and set new standards for innovation. We can – and do – try something new every day, thanks to the power and scale of our database. In essence, we exist to jumpstart programs whose biggest barrier to success is the status quo.
Job Description
We’re seeking a Senior Digital Strategist with the flexibility, creativity, and confidence of experience to deliver for both Peer to Peer texting clients and full-scale programs in our experimental Digital Lab.
To be clear, this role is focused on the power of text and email fundraising, and we’re seeking someone passionate about those. While social media, brand marketing, advocacy, and programming may provide transferable skills, they will not feature in the Senior Digital Strategist’s daily tasks.
Our ideal candidate will bring a wealth of fundraising copywriting experience and excellence, including a knack for teaching best practices. They will pitch, create, send, and analyze daily fundraising content for a range of Democratic and progressive clients; collaborate with our direct mail, nonprofit, and tech teams; and do it all with a commitment to curiosity and innovation.
This is a position designed for growth, both within the core role and as a member of a dynamic, expanding team. If you lean left, want to flip Congress and state houses (and school boards, and…!) blue, and care about how we raise the money to make those wins possible, we want to meet you!
Responsibilities
- Lead and elevate the execution of full-service digital programs in collaboration with strategists
- Establish and enforce best practices across copy, production, client communications, and internal systems
- Optimize, optimize, optimize – shepherd innovation with regular, robust testing and tracking
- Effectively delegate, collaborate, and communicate to balance mix of full-service and Peer to Peer responsibilities
- Make innovative use of GA’s extensive database to grow lists and optimize fundraising
- Provide and model exceptional customer service in client communications
- Collaborate with teams across GA to break down fundraising silos and support small campaigns and causes as they build efficient “DIY” digital
- Create and refine resources for company-wide visibility into digital standards of excellence
Qualifications
- At least 3 years’ experience contributing high-level strategy to a digital fundraising program
- Experience may come from a campaign, nonprofit, or any other dedicated cause you can translate into this role. Digital ads experience is also a plus.
- Direct client management experience
- Strong writing skills within a range of styles and formats, to include digital fundraising
- Knowledge of the progressive digital fundraising landscape, including common strategies and “major players”
- Experience working with CRMs, SMS/MMS platforms, and donation platforms
- Facility with data/performance analysis, revenue and ROI tracking, projections, and budgets
- Working knowledge of HTML
- Openness to feedback, willingness to be wrong, and flexibility to pivot when necessary
- Passion for and belief in the power of digital fundraising to influence our future
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion
The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $85,000 plus benefits, with the possibility of signing and performance bonuses. This is a full-time, in-office position based in our office in the Chinatown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Candidates must be willing to work in-office.
We offer 33 days of PTO + two days for every year with GA; 11 federal holidays; and full office closure between Christmas and New Years. Additional benefits include healthcare, dental, and vision insurance; paid parental leave; mental health and sick days; 401K with employer match; profit sharing; and more.
Applicants should provide a resume and a one-page cover letter that describes the unique value they are prepared to bring to this role.
