Full Stack Software Engineer

Taboola, the world’s largest content recommendation platform, is hiring an Full Stack Software Engineer to work on Taboola’s flagship recommendations product. The position is open in our Budapest office, formerly known as Gravity R&D, now serving as Taboola Budapest, our R&D hub for Central Europe.

As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development of end-to-end solutions, working on both the backend and frontend of our applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software that meets user needs.

What are some of the things you do on a day-to-day basis?

  • Backend Development: Build and maintain RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPI, ensuring performance, security, and scalability.
  • Frontend Development: Develop responsive and intuitive user interfaces with React, leveraging modern JavaScript and state management frameworks.
  • Software Architecture: Contribute to system and software architecture decisions, ensuring modular, maintainable, and extensible codebases.
  • Data Modeling: Design and implement efficient data models for relational and/or NoSQL databases, ensuring data integrity and optimal performance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Write unit and integration tests to maintain high code quality and reliability.
  • Documenting: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for codebases, APIs, and system design. This includes writing technical documentation, user guides, and setup instructions, etc.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and frameworks to enhance our stack and processes.

What are the skills a good Full Stack Software Engineer needs to have?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Python and FastAPI for backend development.
  • Experience with JavaScript and React for frontend development.
  • Familiarity with database systems and data modeling (e.g., SQL, MongoDB).
  • Understanding of software development principles, including object-oriented programming, design patterns, and clean code practices.
  • Basic knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Technical level of English language proficiency.
  • Reliable, open, flexible, and proactive personality.
  • Desire to learn and develop professionally.

It would be great if you also have: ֿ

  • Experience with deploying applications using containerization tools like Docker.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
  • Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for both frontend and backend systems.

Some other nice to have includes:

  • Experience in web development
  • Experience in Java, Spring development
  • Interest in UI design
  • Interest in artificial intelligence
  • Hardcore table football, ping pong, or darts skills
