Position Summary:

Grayscale Investments is seeking an Index Portfolio Manager to manage digital asset/crypto and equity products across a range of investment vehicles, including ETFs and private placement trusts.  Successful candidates will have experience managing passive or rules-based/systematic strategies, and are driven by precision, efficiency, and continuous improvement.  The Index Portfolio Manager will have a unique opportunity to play a strong role in shaping the investment and operational framework of managing portfolios, including the buildout of a new OMS/EMS technology solution.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage portfolios to meet performance standards consistent with funds’ investment objectives, while adhering to regulatory and compliance rules and client constraints.
  • Proactively contribute to overall systems/investment process enhancements, including the buildout of a new OMS/EMS technology solution. 
  • Implement rebalance and reconstitutions, taking into account trading costs, tax implications, market impact and other considerations.
  • Daily monitoring of portfolio positioning, model drift/dispersion, cash management and compliance within client guidelines.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of investment strategies managed and regularly review portfolios to analyze investment performance.
  • Attribute fund performance and understand and minimize sources of portfolio risk relative to the benchmark.
  • Build relationships and work with internal and external colleagues to get new initiatives executed and deliver superior client experience.

Prior Experience/Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of overall experience in the investment management industry.
  • 3+ years of portfolio management experience managing taxable SMAs (Direct Indexing) for high-net-worth investors and/or managing ETFs, with a preference for equities.
  • BS/BA in degree in a relevant field; graduate degree and/or industry certifications such as CFA preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of portfolio construction, indexing, ETF capital markets, trading, and operations.
  • Experience working with multi-factor risk models and portfolio optimizers (e.g. Axioma, BARRA, Northfield), Factset, and/or other financial tools.
  • Strong technical aptitude with OMS/EMS technology solutions for portfolio management and trading (e.g. Aladdin, Charles River, SS&C Eze).
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Bloomberg, and investment analytical tools; familiarity with programming such as Python/SQL a plus.
  • Experience managing funds with currency and futures/options overlays a plus.
  • Knowledge of and passion for digital assets/crypto a plus.
  • Experience and understanding of allocation of duties between an investment advisor and sub-advisor a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments while producing high quality work in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of professional discretion, integrity, and judgement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills.
