Greenhouse is looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team!

This role sits on our Cloud Platform team. Reporting to the Director of Platform Engineering, this people management role will lead engineers responsible for core AWS cloud foundations and our Kubernetes platform, helping ensure our infrastructure is scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-effective for internal engineering teams and our customers.

As the Engineering Manager, you’ll set technical priorities across cloud infrastructure, reliability, security, and cost management while creating the conditions for your team to do their best work. You’ll partner closely with Security and the broader Platform leadership group on shared standards, roadmaps, incident response, and cross-team priorities.

Who will love this job

  • A leader – you enjoy coaching and developing engineers while building a strong, accountable, and healthy team
  • A platform-builder – you’re motivated by creating scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure that other engineering teams depend on
  • A technical operator – you’re comfortable owning production systems, managing incidents, and improving reliability over time
  • A prioritizer – you know how to balance reliability, security, cost, and delivery against company and department goals
  • A collaborator – you work effectively across platform, security, finance, and leadership to move shared priorities forward
  • A problem-solver – you like digging into complex cloud and Kubernetes challenges and turning them into durable solutions

What you’ll do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers; manage performance and create the conditions for them to do their best work
  • Own AWS cloud foundations across compute, networking, identity, and core services, serving as the team’s technical owner and primary escalation point
  • Drive cloud cost observability and attribution by establishing and refining tagging, reporting, and accountability practices
  • Recommend and execute commitment-based AWS cost strategies, including evaluating and managing Savings Plans and Reserved Instances based on usage forecasts
  • Set and communicate technical priorities for the team, balancing reliability, security, cost, and delivery against department and company objectives
  • Ensure the platform remains scalable, secure, and resilient and continues to meet the needs of internal engineering teams and our customers
  • Partner closely with the Security team and the broader Platform management group on shared standards, infrastructure roadmaps, incident response, and cross-team priorities

You should have

  • 5+ years of experience working within a cloud platform or infrastructure-focused organization
  • Proven track record of technical prioritization and managing Kubernetes at scale in production, including cluster lifecycle and upgrades
  • Strong, hands-on familiarity with the AWS ecosystem, including compute, networking, IAM/identity, and core services
  • Experience leading, coaching, or managing engineers through formal people management or significant tech lead responsibility, with a record of growing and retaining talent
  • Experience with infrastructure as code and GitOps practices such as Terraform and Helm, and managing change across shared infrastructure
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to align technical priorities to department and company objectives and partner across security, engineering, and leadership
  • Your own unique talents! Your background has given you a unique perspective and set of transferable skills that aren't always in alignment with a given role - but those are qualities we value at Greenhouse. If you don't meet 100% of the qualifications outlined above, we still strongly encourage you to apply
