Sr VIP Interiors Mechanic
Summary
The Senior VIP Interiors Mechanic works under minimal supervision to safely perform aircraft removals, installation, and/or fabrication of aircraft interiors (which may include galleys, closets, lavatories, side ledges, bulkheads, doors, and panels).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees and co-signs for uncertified mechanics in accordance with the GTI RSM procedures.
- Facilitates On-the-Job Training (OJT) to provide learning opportunities through work assignment and mentoring.
- May assist Leads with planning, production, and quality assurance of assigned projects.
- Gathers information to submit to Engineering as needed.
- Manufactures and fabricates monuments from raw materials on VIP aircraft including wood, honeycomb, fiberglass, sheet metal and veneers.
- Fabricates, fit trims and installs interior components, galleys, bulk heads, doors, side ledges, game, and conference tables.
- Reads and interprets blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Performs troubleshooting and repairs to inspect incoming cabinetry and interior, removals, inventory, interior, protection, and proper interior nomenclature for part identification.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform duties.
- Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests and make other adjustments as necessary.
- Communicates effectively with other maintenance personnel at all levels by keeping co-workers and leadership apprised of work progress and difficulties as they arise.
- Completes job assignments in a timely manner.
- Completes on-the-job-training (OJT) forms and required reading.
- Helps with general clean-up of work area.
- Responsible for accurately clocking to jobs.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Effective and appropriate conduct with co-workers.
- Other duties as assigned.

Summary of Education, Experience & Certification
High School education or equivalent. Minimum of three years’ recent applicable installation, fabrication, or related experience. Experience in aerospace industry preferred. Applicable Repairman, Airframe, or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification required.
Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company/foreign government/foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to communicate in English (read, write, and verbally communicate).
- Mathematical knowledge and ability to apply towards problem solving.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Works under minimal supervision.
- Ability to work overtime, as required.
- Ability to travel.
Physical Requirements
- Able to comply with DOT/FAA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
- Able to climb and work on step stools and/or ladders.
- Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance and ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to reach overhead.
- Ability to work in a non-dust-free environment.
- Normal or corrected vision (required to perform exacting tasks).
- Full range of motion with both hands.
- Ability to work in a stooping, kneeling or standing position and in cramped areas.
The expected WA salary range for this position is between $61,000.00 - $85,000.00 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, location, and other factors permitted by law.
