Avionics Technician I (Contract)
Summary
Manufactures and installs aircraft wire harness assemblies and components using a variety of engineering data, tools and equipment in a timely and efficient fashion while ensuring quality standards are attained.
This is a temporary position employed through an agency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Has intermediate knowledge of all areas of the aircraft and assigned work area.
- Accurately interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wire diagrams, system schematics, drawings, engineering orders and other documents from both the client and Greenpoint.
- Modify, repair, replace, or otherwise perform routine aircraft installs in specialized areas of aircraft.
- Properly utilize and maintain Avionics hand tools to perform repairs and installations.
- Accurately document work performed as set forth by Greenpoint and customer maintenance programs.
- Fabricate wire bundles and assemblies per drawings and standard practices to include marking of wires and termination of wires into a variety of contacts and connectors.
- Installs wire harnesses on final product assemblies such as interior cabinet assemblies, periphery assemblies, circuit breaker component panels, etc.
- Troubleshoot issues, replace, or repair parts, test, making necessary adjustments.
- Help with general clean-up of work area.
- Responsible for accurately clocking to jobs.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Effective and appropriate conduct with coworkers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary of Education, Experience & Certification
Minimum two years’ avionics experience preferred. Familiar with the Boeing Standard Wiring Practices Manual. Airframe (A) or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License a plus but not required.
This safety-sensitive position is covered by the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. Any applicant selected for this position will be subject to pre-employment drug testing. Persons occupying a "safety-sensitive” position will be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing. Post-accident, reasonable cause, and return-to-duty tests may also be required based on specific circumstances.
US Citizen Required - this position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to communicate in English (read, write and verbally communicate).
- Mathematical knowledge and ability to apply towards problem solving.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the techniques, processes and procedures of aircraft wire harness manufacturing.
- Ability to research, identify and operate proper tools for the task assigned.
- Ability to work with repetitive stripping and crimping equipment.
- Exhibits hand-eye coordination/skills with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to interpret and understand engineering data.
- Ability to read measuring instruments.
- Ability to operate wire-marking machine and labeling machine.
- Ability to design and build shop aids.
- Ability to assemble electrical wiring and components on cabinet, panel or sheet metal assemblies.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
Physical Requirements
- Able to comply with DOT/FAA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
- Able to climb and work on step stools and/or ladders.
- Able to lift 25 lbs. without assistance/able to lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
- Able to reach overhead.
- Able to work in a non-dust-free environment.
- Normal or corrected vision (required to perform exacting tasks).
- Full range of motion with both hands.
- Can work in a stooping, kneeling or standing position and in cramped areas.
Personal Tool Requirements
NOTE: Although the company provides some tools, the electrical production of Aerospace Interiors and assemblies is a highly developed skill that requires many personal tools enabling an individual to construct quality items in a productive time frame. Additional tools may be required.
The minimum required tools must be obtained within 3 months after initial employment.
