Retail Application Manager

The Role 

The Application Manager leads technical delivery of IT solutions for our key business stakeholders with a primary focus on our Retail, Revenue, and Merchandising Operations & Buying functions. It includes managing the development and implementation of technology solutions specific to our Point-of-sale, Loyalty/Rewards, Product Data Management, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and customer experience related solutions. This position requires a steadfast execution mindset, strong retail IT background, exceptional communication and collaboration skills and the ability to collaborate in a demanding environment while maintaining a composed, professional demeanor. A high degree of ownership, initiative, interaction and teamwork is required to be effective in the role. This role reports to the Director, Technology Applications. This position requires an outside the box strategic thinker with the flexibility to manage the fast pace and unique challenges of the cannabis industry.   

Responsibilities 

  • Supervise technical personnel, both internal and external, involved in the development of new applications, integrations and/or maintenance and operations of existing applications technology systems.
  • Foster open and clear communication within the team, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Lead day-to-day IT operations for all applications, including our SaaS solutions, while establishing and enforcing procedures for application maintenance and driving continuous improvement in application stability.
  • Act as level 3 Application support for primary business applications.
  • Effectively manage and implement multiple IT projects on time and on budget through a disciplined program management approach.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to pinpoint functional capability and technology gaps. Assist in developing a technology roadmap considering business advantages, feasibility, and resource accessibility.
  • Assist in the evaluation, selection, and relationship management with external vendors and technology partners for application-related services and solutions.
  • Contribute to the prioritization and alignment of SaaS vendor product roadmaps in collaboration with our business stakeholders and in alignment with our larger business objectives.
  • Facilitate IT Governance process in coordination with senior management, participate in planning for future business needs.
  • Assist in the developing and managing budgets for application development, maintenance, and support activities.
  • Advise on vendor upgrades or updates to underlying code as well as understand vendor upgrade roadmaps and how changes may impact the business.
  • Create and maintain application integration and high-level architecture documentation for our technology applications footprint.
  • Maintain knowledge base systems and standard operating procedure documents for use by our IT operations team.
  • Report system health, events, and KPIs on revenue applications to key business partners and advise on improvement or deficiencies within the overall system.  
  • Lead organizational changes that enhances the company's ability to accelerate growth 

Qualifications  

  • 5+ years of technical program/project management experience in a fast-paced technology company and/or consulting
  • 3+ years of experience with enterprise applications that directly impact store business operations and/or manufacturing applications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management or a related field, preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of internal and external technical staff, manage, and prioritize multiple concurrent projects.
  • Possess a high level of business acumen with the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing) and be proficient in explaining complex technical decisions to non-technical partners.
  • Exceptional organization and planning skills and process-driven thinking
  • Self-starter, creative, enthusiastic, innovative and collaborative outlook
  • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with business stakeholder to identify capability gaps and developing technology road maps
  • Demonstrated experience assisting in managing project and department budgets
  • Experience partnering with 3rd party vendors on system performance and future road map capability needs

Additional Requirements 

  • Must pass any and all required background checks  
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry  
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
