Fertigation Technician

The Role
Provides support to the Fertigation Department to ensure the activities and operations of the Grow Department, while abiding by policies, procedures and operational guidelines.
Essential functions:
- Follow all operational guidelines, verbal directives, training information and policies when performing duties
- Conduct temperature monitoring, dissolved oxygen monitoring, and mixing concentration tanks
- Participate in ECA PPM tests for fertigation tanks and Flower rooms, testing and maintenance ECA skid concentrations, and testing of nutrient concentrations as assigned
- Complete daily checks to monitor assets and troubleshoot issues as needed
- Track daily water usage, monitor water softener, and function as a subject matter expert on all fertigation equipment as assigned
- Monitor and stock nutrients and appropriate chemicals
- Cleaning of work area (dusting tanks, plumbing, mopping, etc.) to ensure compliance
- Stocking of nutrients and monitoring nutrient stock levels in the storehouse
- Document all activities, inspections, and test results accurately and submit reports as required
- Perform preventative maintenance on fertigation systems, including cleaning filters and calibrating equipment
- Capable of navigating user interface on all pumps
- Complete leak audits (i.e., checking of all PVC unions and couplings for leaks)
- Working with facilities and maintenance on problems, issues, and PMs
- Assist with the implementation of new systems or upgrades to improve efficiency and compliance
- Maintain open communication with management team and co-workers
- Report employee issues or product situations through appropriate escalation protocol
- Abide by GTI and grow department’s safety policies and procedures
Working Conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions
- Must be able to repetitively climb ladders and/or stairs and work from elevated platforms
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while maintaining focus
- Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 50 pounds (and up to 100 pounds with assistance) AND must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with product
- Must be able to work in an environment that is 85+ degrees and 70% humidity for extended periods
- Must be able to work at heights
- May be exposed to equipment with elevated decibel levels and must wear hearing protection where it is required
- Requires ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) for the job, including respirators, gloves, and safety goggles
- Regularly handle and work around a variety of chemicals that require compliance with safety data sheets and appropriate safety protocols
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment
- Work involves daily exposure to allergens (such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil)
Qualifications
- Knowledge and adherence to the policies, procedures and goals of the company
- Ability to listen well and communicate effectively orally and in writing with various audiences, especially with direct supervisors and co-workers
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees
- Basic math skills
- Understand applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry, personnel law, safety regulations, local municipal codes and organizational rules, regulations, directives and standard operating procedures
- Ability to work independently throughout a workday with given directives
Additional Requirements
- Must be at a minimum of 21 years of age
- Must possess valid state ID
- Must be able to obtain, and maintain, state badging requirements to work in the cannabis industry (requires background check and state review)
