Manager, Communications

The Role 

The Manager, Communications will be responsible for managing Green Thumb’s corporate communications activities including employee communications, cross functional team messaging, corporate social and digital content, and inbound media inquiries, while working closely with the rest of the Communications team to ensure integration and alignment with all Communications initiatives. With a focus on internal communications, this role will increase employee engagement and internal cross-functional alignment through effective planning and management strategies as well as creative, proactive storytelling. Reporting to the Director, Communications, the Manager, Communications will be a team player and leader who works collaboratively across functions to ensure organizational and operational alignment to deliver consistent, authentic messages for appropriate audiences and stakeholders, both internal and external. This role will collaborate with the Comms team, senior business leaders and key cross-functional partners to create a robust, transparent approach to internal communications that fosters information sharing, engagement, and trust. 

Responsibilities 

INTERNAL 

  • Supports the build-out and execution of ongoing employee communications to engage team members, connect them to the company’s mission and priorities, and increase visibility of Green Thumb’s corporate programs. Deliverables include the company newsletters, evergreen internal communications, Town Halls, and more.  
  • Supports execution of communications plans, including drafting messaging for all applicable audiences, for business initiatives as needed, collaborating with internal business partners, including People Team, Social Impact, Brand, Retail and Labor Relations to ensure aligned messaging across stakeholders and channels. 
  • Manages proactive communication initiatives such as Town Halls, Intranet build and other special projects, in addition to managing comms team calendar and project management system. 
  • Evaluates and leverages communication tools and multi-media content across employee communication channels that drive engagement and transparency to ensure delivery of our message. 
  • Leads the development and execution of employee engagement/recognition programs that help connect team members across the company and increase employee engagement. 
  • Provides general collaborative support for Comms team in pursuit of departmental OKRs and KPIs 
  • Help field and re-direct inbound internal requests from cross functional partners  

 

EXTERNAL / CORPORATE COMMS 

  • Create social and digital content for GTI social media channels to bring our culture to life through employee content and engagement, in addition to  
  • Build and manage a content calendar for key internal and external activities to be shared on Green Thumb’s social media channels and corporate website. 
  • Monitor the cannabis media landscape and research industry trends and public perception to inform communication programs for Green Thumb 
  • Support inbound media inquiries including routing to appropriate stakeholders on the Communications team, at Green Thumb’s PR agencies, and other cross functional teams at Green Thumb. 
  • Manage executive scheduling/wrangling for events and appearances, working closely with EA’s and support staff 

Qualifications  

  • 5-7 years of experience in corporate communications or marketing; public company preferred 
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Communications, Marketing or related field preferred 
  • Experience with a variety of corporate communication channels, including social media & website 
  • Critical thinker with superb writing, editing and presentation skills 
  • Strong project management experience 
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness 
  • Possesses a strong sense of urgency and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment 
  • Adaptive problem solver who effectively navigates change and ambiguity; decides and acts without having the picture totally defined; appropriately changes strategy in response to new information 
  • Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information 

Additional Requirements 

  • Must pass any and all required background checks  
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry  
  • Must possess valid driver’s license 
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age 

The pay range is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and/or location of the role. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.

Green Thumb Pay Range

$90,000 - $105,000 USD
