Lead Maintenance Technician
The Role
This position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility while managing and delegating responsibilities to accomplish a task/job. The Maintenance Technician assists the Maintenance Manager in routine and preventative maintenance of all equipment within the facility, as well as general maintenance and upkeep of the facility itself. The ideal candidate is well-rounded, with some exposure to electrical, plumbing, and HVAC as well as general facility maintenance. You are also a team player – driven by pride in your work and smiles on your coworker’s faces. Cannabis is a heavily regulated industry, therefore requires all employees to follow safety and compliance regulations.
Responsibilities
- Training of new employees
- Implement retraining plans to ensure adherence to productivity and quality goals
- Lead daily communication meetings, including action item tracking
- Successfully mentor, train and develop strong team members, provide coaching in real time
- Direct the team – directing, scheduling & leading the team to complete daily, weekly, monthly and annual production goals
- Elevate employee issues regarding performance, attendance, etc. to direct manager and HR as appropriate
- Create a positive working environment
- Performs all duties in a safe manner, following Company work rules and policies
- Perform minor building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs, troubleshooting & preventative maintenance as necessary
- Assist in construction, preventative, routine, and breakdown maintenance and repairs on all equipment in the facility
- Perform routine filter cleaning and replacement activities on HVAC units and other equipment throughout the facility
- Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies
- Complete work orders as assigned
- Will develop an elevated level of knowledge concerning equipment in the facility
- Will develop & maintain knowledge of the facilities plumbing, electrical, irrigation, HVAC, and security systems
- Ensure compliance with all company policies & required training (Safety, Quality, Regulations, etc.)
- Responsible for unloading equipment deliveries when needed
- Perform other maintenance duties as requested
- Help create a positive environment by having a positive attitude and by being self-motivated.
- Research, evaluate and adapt to new methods, in order to meet or exceed goals, and or modify their technique/procedures based on all applicable laws
- Employees must exhibit personal hygiene and follow the health guidelines set forth by Green Thumb and the state while processing patient medicine.
Safety & Compliance:
- Must be able to perform essential functions of the role with extreme care and caution
- Ensure all employees have received department specific training
- Ensure compliance with GMP, biosecurity, sanitation or other quality and compliance requirements
- Ensure all company and state required record keeping is accurate and complete
- Ensure tools, equipment and machinery are maintained and calibrated as required
- Lead department inventory requirements
- Report and escalate quality concerns
- Be aware of hazards in the workspace
- Retain and understand department specific training
- Report safety incidents/ concerns and comply with follow-up actions
- Be compliant with area safety requirements, state regulations and PPE requirements
- Follow GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), biosecurity, sanitation or other quality and compliance requirements
- Perform record keeping accurately and completely as directed by a lead or supervisor
- Maintain and calibrate tools, equipment and machinery as directed by a lead or supervisor
- Report and escalate safety & quality concerns
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and execute continuous improvement projects
- Partner with manager to elevate performance standards
Working Conditions:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions
- Must be able to repetitively climb ladders and/or stairs and work from elevated platforms
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while maintaining focus
- Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 50 pounds AND must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with product
- Must be able to work in an environment that is 85+ degrees and 70% humidity for extended periods
- Must be able to work at heights
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment
- Work involves daily exposure to allergens (such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil).
Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; associates degree or certifications preferred
- 2+ years experience in maintenance or similar position preferred
- Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical and general construction/carpentry
- Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task
- Highly knowledgeable with hand and power tools
- Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative, and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense, and resourcefulness
Additional Requirements
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Must possess valid state ID
- Must be able to obtain, and maintain, state badging requirements in order to work in in cannabis industry (requires background check and state review)
