VP, Beverage Operations

Chicago, Illinois, United States

The Role

As more Americans turn to cannabis for well-being, we are looking to grow our team to help us bring additional safe, trusted products to even more consumers and channels across the country. The Vice President, Beverage Operations will be a key player in expanding our THC-infused beverage businesses to ensure the availability of our products nationwide.

As we expand our product portfolio, anchored by Señorita and Rythm, we are seeking a visionary VP of Beverage Operations to architect, lead, and scale a world-class production and fulfillment network.

This leader will design and execute the long-term operational roadmap for hemp-derived beverages, owning strategy across production, supply chain, sourcing, quality, and customer fulfillment. From determining the right balance of comanufacturing vs. internal production to optimizing cost, quality, and customer service, this role will shape the next stage of growth in a dynamic, fast-scaling business.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record of building scalable CPG supply chains—strong preference for experience in beverage and is eager to bring both strategic planning and hands-on execution to a category-defining startup environment.

Responsibilities

Strategic Operations Leadership

  • Build and lead the end-to-end operations network strategy for hemp-derived beverages including production, quality, fulfillment, and sourcing.
  • Evaluate and guide the company’s make-vs-buy strategy: comanufacturing optimization vs. internal self-production capabilities.
  • Design scalable frameworks and infrastructure that align with growth plans across markets, product formats, and sales channels.
  • Translate business goals into operational priorities across cost, service, flexibility, and quality.

Production & Supply Chain Strategy

  • Drive selection, onboarding, and performance management of manufacturing partners and key vendors.
  • Oversee cross-functional supply planning to ensure demand alignment, cost efficiency, and production continuity.
  • Implement forecasting, capacity planning, and contingency protocols to support rapid growth and regulatory complexity.

Network Design & Scale Execution

  • Map future-state production and distribution network based on volume growth, compliance regulations, logistics, and cost-to-serve for both beverages and edibles.
  • Identify new geographic production hubs and/or insourced capabilities based on scale thresholds.
  • Partner with Finance to build business cases for capital investment, facility builds, or long-term partner agreements.

Quality & Service Excellence

  • Oversee the Quality function to ensure consistent delivery of product specs and compliance standards.
  • Set service-level KPIs and drive continuous improvement across OTIF, freshness, and customer satisfaction.
  • Work with Sales and Customer Supply Chain to align fulfillment strategy with distributor and retail partner expectations.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing operations organization, including Planning, Sourcing, Quality, Fulfillment, and Customer Service.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the GM and executive team on supply chain and manufacturing implications of business strategy.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in operations, supply chain, or manufacturing leadership in the CPG industry (beverage strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated success scaling operations from early-stage to national footprint, ideally at a growth-stage company
  • Deep understanding of beverage manufacturing models (coman vs. in-house), COGS optimization, and quality systems

Preferred Background

  • Experience with highly regulated industries (alcohol, hemp, cannabis, etc.)
  • Track record of cross-functional leadership in fast-paced or startup environments
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field; MBA or advanced degree a plus

Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic mindset with operational execution muscle
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional alignment skills
  • High bias for action, resourcefulness, and creative problem-solving
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP and planning systems preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass any and all required background checks
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
  • Must possess valid driver’s license
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age

The pay range is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and/or location of the role. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
