Maintenance Supervisor

The Role

The Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Manager and serves as the first-line leader for the maintenance team, directing the daily work of maintenance technicians to keep all production and facility equipment running safely and reliably. In this hands-on role, you will schedule and assign work, lead troubleshooting and repairs on the floor, and drive the site's preventative maintenance program. You will develop your technicians, enforce safety and quality standards, and partner with production to minimize downtime. The ideal candidate is a strong technical maintenance professional who leads by example and takes pride in a well-run shop and a well-developed team.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise, schedule, and assign the daily work of maintenance technicians, balancing preventative maintenance, work orders, and breakdown response to meet production needs
  • Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and hands-on training to technicians; identify skill gaps and coordinate development opportunities
  • Monitor technician performance and workloads, provide recognition, address performance issues, and recommend disciplinary action as needed in accordance with company policy
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of maintenance staff
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate safety, quality, priorities, and departmental initiatives
  • Serve as back-up for the Maintenance Manager as needed

Maintenance Execution

  • Lead and participate in troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of production and facility equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic/pneumatic, HVAC, and PLC-controlled systems
  • Own the site's preventative and predictive maintenance schedules, ensuring PMs are completed on time and to standard
  • Develop and implement sustainable, long-term solutions to recurring equipment reliability issues
  • Ensure work orders are executed, documented, and closed out accurately in the CMMS
  • Coordinate equipment installations, startups, and shutdowns with production to minimize disruption
  • Support capital projects and equipment upgrades; evaluate and help test new technology and methods

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed safely and in accordance with plant and corporate safety standards and policies
  • Enforce associate compliance with applicable state and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, Hazardous Waste) relating to maintenance operations
  • Maintain and enforce quality standards, procedures, and supporting documentation for maintenance work

Coordination & Materials

  • Ensure critical spare parts and MRO supplies are available to support scheduled and unplanned maintenance, coordinating with purchasing/inventory on stock levels and reorders
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors to support maintenance needs, including addressing unsatisfactory quality or service
  • Prepare and distribute maintenance metrics and reports (e.g., PM completion, downtime, work order status)
  • Communicate priorities, bottlenecks, and major issues clearly across all levels of the organization

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification, trade school, or some college preferred
  • 5+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing/production environment, with 1+ years in a lead or supervisory capacity
  • Strong technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic/pneumatic, and HVAC systems; PLC troubleshooting experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, schedule, and develop a team of technicians
  • Experience with a CMMS required (eMaint preferred)
  • Working knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and reliability best practices
  • Proficient with hand and power tools and measuring instruments
  • Microsoft Office skills required; intermediate preferred
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills, with demonstrated attention to detail

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass any and all required background checks
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • Must be approved by the state regulating agency to receive a cannabis agent badge
  • Must understand and comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Green Thumb

Working Conditions

  • Works in areas requiring exposure to varying temperatures, heat or cold, and/or wet, damp, or drafty conditions
  • Works at heights, including on roofs, on scaffolding, up ladders, or in ceiling spaces
  • Moves over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces
  • Work overnight, weekends, and varying shifts
  • Move through narrow, enclosed, or elevated spaces
  • Work outdoors for extended periods of time
  • Moves, lifts, carries, and places merchandise and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Work involves daily exposure to allergens (such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil)

 

The pay range is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and/or location of the role. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.

Green Thumb Pay Range

$85,000 - $95,000 USD
