As a Staff Embedded Firmware Engineer, you'll be part of a team that's revolutionizing the cellular infrastructure industry. Reporting to our principal engineer/manager, you'll be at the forefront of developing embedded firmware for our innovative radio solutions. This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in DSP, RF technologies, and embedded systems, who is looking to make a significant impact on innovative products in the cellular infrastructure space.
This is a full-time position based in our San Diego, CA office.
Key Responsibilities
- Focus on developing and optimizing digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms for both transmission (TX) and reception (RX) in 4G/5G physical layers, with key focus on timing synchronization for RF symbols, including Cyclic Prefix (CP), PRACH, and NPRACH
- Design, develop, and integrate embedded firmware drivers for radio front-end, transceiver, and baseband modules
- Develop and optimize firmware for embedded systems, focusing on low-level drivers and hardware interfaces
- Develop and maintain real-time embedded software using RTOS(ThreadX)
- Implement an extensible hardware abstraction layer to seamlessly support a variety of radio hardware configurations using a common API
- Develop interfaces for hardware characterization, calibration, and tuning procedures to optimize performance
- Create technical documentation for firmware architecture, design, and implementation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate firmware with system-level applications
- Optimize and design transactions for device control that meet strict timing requirements and RF spectrum emissions standards
Job Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience, particularly in embedded firmware development
- MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred
- Key Skills:
- DSP Expertise: In-depth knowledge of DSP for TX/RX in 4G/5G physical layers
- Firmware Development: Experience with lower physical layer (Layer 1) and RF driver firmware development using C programming, with a preference for experience in 5G NR or LTE
- RF Measurement: Proficient in RF test equipment and signal quality analysis for wireless technology standards
- RF Protocols: Understanding of RF-related alarms, Key Performance Indicators, and maintenance protocols (e.g., ORAN-MP, ORI, CPRI SW)
- Coding Skills: Strong skills in embedded C and Python
Desirable Skills
- Prior ARM or similar System on a Chip (SoC) product development experience
- A good understanding of cellular wireless protocols (MAC/PHY)
- Ability to work productively and independently
- Familiar with version control tools like Git and project management tools like Jira
- Team player with a strong sense of urgency to meet product needs on time
Compensation and Benefits:
Our compensation package at InnoPhase, dba GreenWave Radios, includes base pay and pre-IPO stock options. The base pay range for this role is between $140K-$225K. Your base pay will depend on the market, interview results, skills, qualifications, experience, education, and location.
