We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer or Staff Engineer, RF Hardware Design with a passion for cellular radio technology and a solid foundation in RF hardware design and debugging. This person will report to the RF Hardware Manager and is willing to work onsite in San Diego. The candidate must have hands-on lab experience and know how to operate RF test equipment to validate and troubleshoot designs. The ideal candidate is comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment and can creatively solve complex problems.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys directly impacting a smaller, dynamic team. If you prefer an environment where you can take ownership of projects and contribute significantly to the development process, this could be an ideal role for you.
Given the hands-on nature of the work, you'll develop a deep understanding of RF design and testing while collaborating with others in a highly technical environment. You'll also be able to broaden your expertise in wireless communications, RF PCB design, and RF hardware systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for designing and testing RF hardware circuits and systems from the concept stage to production.
- Work closely with others, sharing technical expertise and collaborating with a dynamic, cross-functional team.
- Focus on debugging and solving issues related to RF hardware, especially in wireless technology.
- Involved in practical, lab-based work with RF circuits and hardware.
Job Requirements
- BSEE/MSEE preferred or equivalent work experience
- 4-8 years of experience in RF hardware design, including the development and testing of RF circuits and systems for wireless communication products
- Strong knowledge of RF principles, including signal propagation, modulation, and demodulation
- Experience with multi-layer PCB design, including impedance matching and signal integrity considerations
- Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving RF circuit/system issues during design and testing phases
- Expertise in RF measurements, including the use of network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and signal generators
- Proficiency with RF simulation tools (Microwave Office, or ADS) and Schematic/PCB design tools (Cadence)
- Both written and verbal communication skills are critical, especially in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Desirable Skills
- Experience with RF circuit/system design for mobile, IoT, or wireless communication products.
- Familiarity with RF standards such as LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, etc.
- Understanding of antenna design and integration into wireless systems.
- Experience with automated testing and RF system characterization.
