As a Staff ATE & Bench Test Engineer, you will be a key individual contributor in the Product Development and Test Engineering team, focusing on ATE and bench test development for RF functional block and end-to-end testing, board level, and system level testing. You will work across the entire product lifecycle—from initial concept to production—emphasizing on design for test, test automation, and ensuring high-level product quality. This is a full-time position in San Diego, CA.
Key Responsibilities
- New Product Introduction – Lead the test development phase of new products, ensuring they meet required quality and testing standards before production ramp-up.
- Develop and manage test software and hardware for ATE platforms.
- Responsible for bench test automation Gitlab, working closely with other bench test engineers to release Python scripts and maintain the Gitlab.
- Work closely with design, product development, system, and application engineers, as well as OSAT providers, to develop test solutions for new products.
- Create efficient test automation scripts and equipment drivers for electronic measurement equipment like Vector Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, high-speed oscilloscope, power meter, signal generators, and more.
- Work with a diverse team of engineers to design and implement test and quality assurance solutions, ensuring the highest standards of product performance.
- Coach junior engineers and contribute to their career development while leading team’s efforts.
Job Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Computer Science (CS) required; MS in EE/CS preferred
- 10+ years of relevant experience in ATE testing and RF SoC testing
- Test program development experience with a high-volume ATE tester platform (e.g., Teradyne or Advantest)
- 1-5 years of technical leadership experience, including driving test solution development and mentoring junior engineers
- At least one year of experience in bench test automation script development, explicitly using Python and/or MATLAB
- Proficiency in developing test automation, equipment drivers, and working with electronic measurement instruments
- Familiarity with Gitlab, version control, and process-oriented program development
- Proficiency with PCB schematic review and best layout practices for RF and high speed signals.
- Possess analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to diverse teams
Desirable Skills
- Working experience with high-volume ATE tester platform (e.g., Teradyne or Advantest)
- Familiarity with key RF test metrics like Noise Figure, EVM, ACLR, etc.
- Experience with high-speed digital tests (e.g., as jitter, eye diagram, BERT) is a plus
- Experience with writing/debugging firmware and test cases for SoC / digital hardware verification is highly desirable
- Good understanding of the semiconductor product development lifecycle
- Ability to handle incomplete or evolving requirements, efficiently multitask, and stay detail-oriented while focusing on results
