As a Staff Firmware Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing embedded firmware for our next-generation cellular infrastructure solutions. Reporting to our senior staff engineer/manager, you will be at the cutting edge of firmware development for radio solutions in the 5G space, focusing on high-speed communication protocols such as Ethernet, PCIe, and SerDes. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled firmware engineer with experience in DSP, RF technologies, and embedded systems, who is eager to make a significant impact in the cellular infrastructure and high-performance networking industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate software and hardware systems that support high-speed packet processing, Ethernet standards, and SerDes interfaces.
- Work with high-speed communication protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet (10G/40G/100G), and other high-bandwidth technologies.
- Develop and optimize hardware architectures for high-performance networking systems, ensuring minimal packet loss and low latency.
- Design and implement advanced SerDes architectures and interfaces for interconnects in high-speed systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize high-speed signal integrity, signal processing, and packet switching mechanisms.
- Contribute to developing and optimizing TX/RX signal processing features, including DPD, QEC, and Passive Intermodulation Correction (PIMC).
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in high-speed networking, Ethernet standards, and PCIe technology.
Job Requirements
- BS/CS EE or Ph.D. with at least 10 years of firmware development experience in embedded systems, including high-speed networking and communication protocols
- Strong experience in C programming, with a focus on embedded systems and real-time processing
- Extensive experience with high-speed communication protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet and SerDes interfaces
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and optimization skills for high-speed signal integrity, signal processing, and packet switching mechanisms
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to document and present technical concepts effectively
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to drive technical issues to resolution effectively and efficiently
- Experience with ARM NEON SIMD optimization and RF-based signal processing techniques is plus
Desirable Skills
- Experience with ARM or other System on Chip (SoC) products and their integration with high-speed communication protocols like PCIe, Ethernet, or SerDes
- Familiarity with telecom algorithms like DPD, TX QEC, VSWR, QEC correction, DC offset, RX AGC, with application to high-speed data environments
- Knowledge of and experience with version control tools (git command line, repositories)
- Experience with RTL and mixed-mode (HW/FW) emulation and simulation, particularly in high-speed packet processing and networking environments
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment to meet critical product development milestones on time
Compensation and Benefits:
Our compensation package at InnoPhase, dba GreenWave Radios, includes base pay and pre-IPO stock options. The base pay range for this role is between $140K-$225K. Your base pay will depend on the market, interview results, skills, qualifications, experience, education, and location.
