About the Position

Groome Industrial Service Group is seeking a CDL Operator to join our team. The operator is responsible for maintaining and operating equipment between locations.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority by always acting safely and complying with all safe work practices, policies, and procedures
  • Operate and maintain all assigned service line equipment; the ability to operate additional service line equipment is strongly desired
  • Perform Hazard Recognition Awareness to eliminate hazards from the workplace
  • Responsible for setting up, performing, and breaking down jobs using proper tools and procedures
  • Comply with all DOT regulations and maintain accurate record-keeping
  • Inspect company vehicles, equipment, and tools before and after use; report deficiencies to management (includes pre- and post-trip inspections)
  • Promote the company's business by conducting work assignments professionally and safely
  • Assist in job planning including on-site inspections, writing procedures, and specifying necessary equipment and chemicals
  • Communicate job status to division management and customer representatives before, during, and after completion
  • Assist in daily field maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment
  • Inspect equipment, hoses, connections, pumps, and work area prior to starting a job and correct deficiencies to prevent accidents or inefficiencies
  • Operate company equipment only when authorized and qualified, following all applicable rules and procedures
  • Clean work area and equipment after the job; help maintain safe, clean workspaces including change rooms, locker areas, and client facilities
  • Clean customer equipment using pressurized water, vacuum operation, and debris removal; may neutralize equipment after debris removal
  • Rotate between operating boom, vacuum, and blaster equipment as needed
  • Help maintain organized supplies and equipment and ensure all items are returned to their proper storage locations
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized work area at all times
  • Safely excavate various soil types without damaging underground utilities or infrastructure
  • Always comply with safety requirements and all company policies
  • Work productively as a team member
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

What does it take to work for Groome Industrial Service Group? 

  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and acceptable ID
  • Possess or be able to obtain a CDL with Standard Transmission A or B endorsement (Hazmat recommended but not required)
  • Must be able to work overtime, holidays, and weekends on a rotating schedule if required
  • Some travel and night work required
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Possession of a TWIC card is a plus but not required
  • Must understand verbal and written instructions
  • Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math
  • Knowledge of safe vacuum and hydro-blast operations
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Able to withstand 70 psi of back pressure
  • May frequently reach above shoulder height and below the waist
  • May occasionally stoop, kneel, or bend
  • Able to move in and around confined, cluttered, or uneven areas
  • Must comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • Frequent use of hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects
  • Able to work up to a 12-hour shift performing strenuous physical labor in varying outdoor temperatures and conditions
