Director, Technical Program Management
Mission: Groq is seeking a technically fluent program leader to drive silicon development across the full product lifecycle. Sitting at the intersection of engineering, product, and program management, this role is key to aligning teams, managing complex schedules, and ensuring high-quality, on-time silicon delivery. You will work closely with engineering leads (Logic, DV, Physical Design, Packaging, Foundry) and cross-functional partners in product, systems, and software. This high-impact role demands technical depth, sharp execution, and a passion for building world-class silicon in fast-moving environments.
Responsibilities & opportunities in this role:
- Assume ownership of silicon schedules for Logic Design, Design Verification, Physical Design, Packaging, and Foundry
- Support the Head of Silicon with routine team administration, including preparing presentations, following up on action items, and hosting meetings.
- Serve as one pillar of the core team triad (Engineering, Product, Program Management) for the Polaris and follow-on programs to guide decisions, trade-offs, planning, and execution
- Work with engineers and engineering managers to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality silicon deliverables
- Collaborate and lead cross-functional planning and execution efforts with product, systems, and software teams to ensure we deliver a complete product, not just a chip
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in one or more of the following: logic design, design verification, or physical design.
- Proven track record of managing complex silicon programs (ASIC or COT) involving multiple engineering domains and external partners.
- Experience collaborating with and managing third-party vendors (e.g., foundries, IP providers), including negotiating deliverables and ensuring accountability.
- Strong technical foundation in silicon development, with the ability to engage meaningfully with engineers across disciplines.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex schedules, technical trade-offs, and program decisions to diverse audiences.
- Prior experience in a Chief-of-Staff or technical program leadership role is a strong plus.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent).
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and proactively driving toward clarity and alignment.
