The Instrumentation and Controls Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, calibrating, and maintaining all instrumentation and process control equipment with demonstrated proficiency using electrical test equipment including voltmeter, ammeter, etc. The Instrumentation Technician must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of instrumentation including pH probes, level transmitters, pressure transmitters, flow meters, and related equipment. They will work independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventive, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and service a variety of industrial process controls, laboratory equipment and industrial automation including routine calibration and preventative maintenance activities.
- Conducts preventative maintenance tasks using equipment such as process meters, process simulators, thermography, ultrasonic testing, megger and oscilloscope.
- Assists in developing, executing, and expanding a Preventive Maintenance program and working towards a tracking system with predictive maintenance practices, while being flexible to cover emergency maintenance.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent relative experience in an industrial or military environment.
- A strong background in process controls and instrumentation.
- Experience with variable frequency drives and smart field instruments (i.e. pressure, flow, temperature, level and analytical transmitters, valve positioners, valve actuators and PID controllers) is necessary.
- Must be willing to work overtime and adjust shifts as needed and willing to assist in all maintenance related activities including facilities and other repairs as necessary.
- Understanding of Preventive Maintenance programs (CMMS).
- Understanding of industry standard safety practices such as: LOTO, PPE, permitting, hot work, equipment line break, fall protection, safe work, accident prevention, etc.
- Must be able to read, follow and identify components depicted on P/ID’s, schematics and engineered drawings.
- Must pass an onsite aptitude demonstration.
OTHER QUALITIES WE’D LOVE FOR YOU TO HAVE:
- Working knowledge of Parker, Allen Bradley, and Siemens AC variable frequency drives, PLCs and associated protocols.
- Experience working in a constantly changing start-up environment.
- CMMS experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand for a minimum of two hours without assistance.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to wear a full-face respirator for 30-60 minute periods.
- Must be able to operate forklift and aerial lift platforms to work at heights up to 26 feet on a limited basis, 14 feet on average when needed.
The base pay range for this position is $35/hr - $45/hr. All positions come with a bonus plan and company stock options. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the position is located.
Base Pay Range
$35 - $45 USD
