Senior/Staff Design Engineer
About Us:
Grow Therapy is on a mission to serve as the trusted partner for therapists growing their practice, and patients accessing high-quality care. Powered by technology, we are a three-sided marketplace that empowers providers, augments insurance payors, and serves patients. Following the mass increase in depression and anxiety, the need for accessibility is more important than ever. To make our vision for mental healthcare a reality, we’re building a team of entrepreneurs and mission-driven go-getters. Since launching in February 2021, we’ve empowered more than ten thousand therapists and hundreds of thousands of clients across the country and insurance landscape. We’ve raised more than $178mm of funding from Sequoia Capital, Transformation Capital, TCV, SignalFire, and others.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Design Engineer to raise the bar on interaction quality, motion, and polish across our product. This role sits at the intersection of design and engineering — you'll work directly with designers and engineers to ship new features that feel crafted, consistent, and human.
You'll embed across product teams to support high-impact work from ideation through launch, owning the interaction quality layer and ensuring a high level of polish in everything we ship. Beyond new feature development, you’ll proactively identify and address gaps in production — fixing visual bugs, refining interactions, and improving overall UI quality across the product.
You’ll also help define motion and interaction patterns that scale, contribute to design system improvements, and partner with our frontend platform team to close the gap between design intent and production reality. This is a foundational role for building a world-class product surface and elevating our craft as we scale.
What You’ll Do
- Embed across various product teams to support high-impact work, partnering with designers and engineers from ideation to launch.
- Prototype and build interaction-rich experiences that bring design concepts to life in production.
- Collaborate with product designers and product managers to identify opportunities and explore solutions.
- Define motion and interaction standards that scale across the product.
- Proactively identify and execute on opportunities that raise the overall quality bar for visual polish, interaction, and frontend craft across the company.
- Audit and improve production UI by identifying and fixing visual bugs, inconsistencies, and interaction gaps.
- Contribute to design system improvements in partnership with design and the frontend platform team.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of frontend or UX engineering experience, ideally in consumer or product-focused companies.
- Excellent sense of visual and interaction design, with an eye for spacing, typography, motion, and delightful details.
- Experience collaborating closely with designers throughout the entire product development process.
- Ability to prototype quickly and translate ambiguous ideas into tangible interfaces.
- Ability to build scalable component libraries, design systems, or reusable UI frameworks.
- Fluency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, Next, React, CSS systems, and component architecture.
- An understanding of accessibility (WCAG) and web performance considerations.
- A systems mindset seeing patterns, simplifying complexity, and designing for long-term reuse.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence product direction and UI standards.
- A passion for building delightful, consumer-grade user experiences.
- Founder’s mindset - ownership, speed, scrappiness, resilience, bias toward action.
Why This Role Matters
As we scale our product and organization, the need for consistent, high-quality UI becomes critical. A dedicated Design Engineer ensures we can continue to ship beautiful, intuitive experiences, while giving every team the tools and frameworks they need to move faster without compromising quality.
This role will be foundational in shaping our product’s visual identity, strengthening our design-engineering partnership, and building a consumer-grade experience that sets the industry standard.
