Senior R&D Manager – Gummy Formulations

About the role

We are seeking a scrappy and experienced Innovation Scientist. In this role, you will create an in-house innovation lab, drive product formulations of innovations from start to production, collaborate closely with cross-functional team members (operations, performance, brand) and with our manufacturers. Note that this is a US-based remote role reporting into our Head of Product.

In this role, you will:

• Create our first in-house lab, including finding a lab space and sourcing gummy benchtop equipment and ingredients.
• Lead rapid formulation experiments to bring innovation ideas to life, including sourcing new ingredients from vendors and creating benchtop samples to accelerate product development. Collaborate with manufacturers to bring products to life with production runs.
• Support the marketing and performance teams in developing scientifically-backed claims for both existing products and new innovations.
• Stay up-to-date on latest ingredient research and trends in supplement space to identify ingredients to incorporate into formulations.
• Spearhead product certification and testing efforts to ensure that products continue to exceed industry standards. Ensure compliance with any regulatory requirements.

We're looking for someone who:

• 3+ years of experience in supplement formulation, bonus points for experience within the gummy category.
• Proven experience in developing supplement formulations and collaborating with manufacturers and operations teams to bring formulations into production to launch.
• Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field.

Bonus points for:

• Experience in establishing an in-house R&D lab from scratch.
• Familiarity with working on product claims development with marketing teams.
• Experience working with vendors for third-party testing and consumer testing.
