We are seeking a Senior Device Engineering Manager to lead the team behind our nation wide network of Android-based media players. The network is a vertical and bespoke technology stack, including our custom firmware, an in house MDM, Android applications, and the backend services that support over 30,000 deployed devices.

You don’t need to be a systems architect, but you must bring technical fluency, sound engineering judgment, and a bias toward operational reliability. Your team spans across embedded Android development, client applications, and backend orchestration services that ensure stable, dynamic video content delivery at scale.

You’ll also be responsible for support processes and software QA for the network, ensuring we meet high standards of performance and uptime. Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and hold your team accountable to high performance, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate team capacity and skill coverage to determine resourcing needs; when hiring is required, lead recruitment efforts and ensure smooth onboarding and training for new teammates.
  • Manage and grow a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for development of our hardware, custom AOSP implementation,. app development, support and QA.
  • Own the operational health and reliability of the device platform, ensuring uptime, recoverability, and field durability across thousands of endpoints.
  • Partner closely with Product to align on device roadmap, feature prioritization, and system design trade-offs.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of features, updates, and technical initiatives across firmware, application, and cloud systems.
  • Drive execution across a distributed media delivery platform, supporting resilient playback, content caching, and real-time telemetry.
  • Support engineers in solving complex problems involving performance, connectivity, and system observability.
  • Foster a team culture focused on pragmatic execution, technical quality, customer support, and collaboration.

Growth opportunities

  • Lead the evolution of our end-to-end in-store retail media platform through the development of our device fleet.
  • Build the foundations necessary to scale our device network from 30K today to over 300,000 in the future
  • Extend the platform to support emerging media use cases and intelligent playback behavior.
  • Build and scale a high-performing engineering culture centered on ownership, technical rigor, and platform thinking.

Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams across Android, embedded systems, or hardware development.
  • Technically fluent with the ability to evaluate engineering trade-offs, support architectural decisions, and drive system-wide alignment.
  • Experience managing field-deployed or IoT-scale systems with remote monitoring, OTA updates, and orchestrated control.
  • Demonstrated success leading engineering execution to meet project timelines while maintaining technical integrity.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and experience managing stakeholder expectations across multiple departments.
  • Ability to balance technical leadership with people management and roadmap delivery.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Familiarity with digital media and playback systems
  • Familiarity with media playback frameworks (ex ExoPlayer), video transcoding, and content caching strategies.
  • Experience working with content scheduling systems, digital signage, or programmatic ad delivery platforms.
  • Understanding of OTA update systems, telemetry pipelines, and large-scale fleet observability.
  • Exposure to HDMI-CEC or low-level display/peripheral management.
  • Background in high-uptime environments like retail tech, logistics, or connected field devices.
  • Familiarity with edge computing

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
