IT System Administrator

Leuven (BE)

Summary

If you’ve ever built your own PC, run a home lab, broken something just to figure out how it works, or spent hours tuning a setup until it’s just right, you’ll probably feel at home here.

We’re looking for a mid-level IT System Administrator who brings a solid foundation and is eager to keep learning and growing. You should be comfortable getting up to speed quickly, contributing early, and taking on more ownership over time.

This role sits between helpdesk and systems: part hands-on support, part infrastructure. You’ll work across a global environment covering Unix/Linux systems, networking, cloud infrastructure, and multi-OS endpoints, with a particular opportunity to strengthen our Windows capabilities.

How your time is split: roughly 60% infrastructure and automation, 30% hands-on employee support and onboarding, and 10% security and compliance work.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership: not ticket-only support, and not a pure architecture role.

This role requires being in the Leuven office 4 days per week, with the potential for more flexibility as the team grows.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Belgium at the time of application. Please note that we are unable to provide visa or work permit sponsorship for this role.

What you’ll do

Infrastructure & Automation (60%)

  • Maintain and improve our on-premise and cloud infrastructure (Proxmox virtualization on Dell servers, Google Cloud Platform, networking)
  • Administer systems and services across Linux/Unix and Windows environments
  • Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot containerized services and build environments using Docker
  • Write and maintain Python scripts and use tools like Ansible to automate provisioning, configuration, and repetitive tasks
  • Monitor system performance and network health (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), resolving issues to minimize downtime
  • Track IT assets, hardware inventory, and software licenses, and keep technical documentation accurate

Support & Onboarding (30%)

  • Serve as a hands-on IT point of contact for a global team, providing on-site and remote support across macOS, Linux, Windows, and mobile devices
  • Execute onboarding and offboarding (accounts, devices, access), with the goal of continuously improving and automating workflows through MDM tooling (Mosyle, Intune, NinjaOne)
  • Manage configurations and integrations for collaboration tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, and Atlassian
  • Be a dependable go-to for day-to-day technical issues and employee support

Security & Compliance (10%)

  • Manage and test backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures
  • Implement security measures including access controls, patch management, and event logging
  • Support IAM practices, vulnerability remediation, audits, incident response, and access reviews

Environment

Cloud: Google Cloud Platform
On-prem: Proxmox on Dell servers
Endpoints: macOS, Linux, Windows, mobile
Device management: Intune, Mosyle, NinjaOne
Tooling: Docker, Python, Slack, Google Workspace

What we’re looking for

  • ~3–5 years of hands-on experience across IT support and system administration
  • Comfortable operating across both helpdesk and infrastructure work (not siloed into one)
  • Comfortable administering a multi-OS environment (Linux/Unix, macOS, Windows), with the motivation to deepen your skills where you’re less experienced
  • Solid Windows skills are a particular plus
  • Working knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and confidence troubleshooting it
  • Experience with endpoint/device management (any modern MDM)
  • Some scripting or automation experience (Python preferred) and the motivation to grow it
  • Able to troubleshoot independently and follow through to resolution
  • A service mindset: clear communicator, reliable, and easy to work with
  • Comfortable switching between deep technical work and helping a new hire get set up
  • Curious, hands-on, and motivated to learn and grow
  • Fluent in English
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Belgium at the time of application. Please note that we are unable to provide visa or work permit sponsorship for this role.

Nice to have

  • Production experience with Docker, Proxmox/VMware, or GCP
  • Experience with Ansible or other configuration management tools
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and practices (ISO 27001, CIS, IAM, audits)
  • Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+/Linux+, GCP, or similar)
  • Experience supporting development teams in a software or scale-up environment
