Virtual, Behavioral Health Technician

Title: Virtual, Behavioral Health Technician
Reports to: Executive Director
Department/Location: Remote
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: This is a full-time position with scheduled hours of 8:00 AM–5:00 PM EST. Candidates may reside in any state, as long as they are able to work the designated schedule.
Requirements: Must have a background in behavioral health with extensive experience in crisis intervention and de-escalation. Experience providing remote crisis services is a plus.
Role Summary:
Guidelight Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Virtual Behavioral Health Technician to support clients participating in our Virtual Clinic. The Virtual BHT plays a critical role in supporting client engagement, safety, and continuity of care during live group programming, while operating under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals. This role has a strong focus on crisis intervention and de-escalation, with the Virtual BHT primarily supporting clients during acute or high-risk situations. This role is embedded within the care delivery experience and is designed to enhance attendance, reinforce safety protocols, support measurement-based care, and assist with care coordination allowing licensed clinicians to focus on therapeutic treatment.
Role Responsibilities:
Client Support & Engagement
- Provide real-time support to clients during live virtual group sessions
- Assist clients who are late, disengaged, or experiencing technical challenges during sessions
- Reinforce participation expectations and group norms to promote consistent engagement
- Partner with therapists to maintain a stable and supportive group environment
Observation & Documentation
- Observe client participation, behavior, and engagement during group sessions
- Document observations, attendance, actions taken, and relevant events according to program standards
- Communicate significant concerns or changes in client presentation to the clinical team promptly
Safety Monitoring & Crisis Support
- Monitor and respond to client distress or escalation during group sessions
- Provide verbal de-escalation and emotional regulation support
- Adhere to established protocols and procedures for maintaining a safe treatment environment.
Measurement-Based Care Support
- Support the delivery and completion of clinical screeners
Care Coordination & Continuity
- Support care coordination activities, including preparation and follow-up related to SCC communications
- Assist with discharge planning processes by supporting resource identification and appointment coordination
- Reinforce next steps and transition planning with clients while they are in active care
- Collaborate with therapists to ensure continuity across levels of care
Collaborative Teamwork
- Work closely with therapists, Executive Directors, and Telehealth Services Coordinators
- Participate in team huddles, Rounds, safety reviews, and operational meetings as assigned
- Communicate proactively regarding attendance trends, engagement barriers, and safety concerns
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field
- Previous experience working in a behavioral health or mental health setting
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and de-escalation skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Compassionate, empathetic, and nonjudgmental approach to client support
- Comfort working in a fully virtual environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
- Comfortable using technology platforms including:
- Video conferencing systems
- Electronic Health Records (EHR)
- Digital screening tools and documentation platforms
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and work within a clearly defined non-clinical scope of practice
- Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail
- Reliable internet connection and ability to work in a private, HIPAA-compliant environment
- Must pass background checks and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrates strong crisis intervention skills, including the ability to assess risk, respond appropriately to acute situations, and utilize effective verbal de-escalation techniques to ensure safety for clients and staff.

Pay Range
$26 - $33 USD
