Engineering Leader
Summary
Gulf Wind Technology is seeking an Engineering Team Leader to join our engineering and inspection team in Hickory, North Carolina. To help our team grow and take on new projects, we’re looking for leaders who are excited to lead and innovative in the wind energy industry. Specifically, the Engineering Leader will play a key role in growing our wind turbine blade due diligence and engineering projects.
Job description
As a member of Gulf Wind Technology’s Engineering Team, the Engineering Leader guides a multidisciplinary team of inspectors and engineers focused on wind turbine blade technologies. Your role will encompass technical oversight, operational leadership, and strategic innovation across three core functions: due diligence for new wind energy construction projects, assessments for operational assets, and the design and development of next-generation blade solutions. At Gulf Wind Technology you will be responsible for:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers and field inspectors working across multiple geographies.
- Oversee wind turbine blade assessments during manufacturing, pre-installation, and operational phases.
- Interface with project developers, OEMs, asset owners, and internal stakeholders to communicate findings and recommendations.
- Ensure high-quality documentation and reporting of technical deliverables and inspection findings
- Managing cross functional projects, cradle to grave, including developing a business case, coordinating team member activities, managing project budgets and customer reporting.
- Travel to customer sites (wind energy projects, manufacturing facilities, etc.) and participate in turbine and blade assessments, including working at height.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Knowledge or experience of aerodynamics, loads, composite materials, fatigue and damage mechanisms, or blade structural behavior.
- Willingness to travel to field sites and blade manufacturing facilities as needed. (Up to 50%)

Desired characteristics
- Previous relevant experience, preferably in the wind industry, but candidates with translatable experience are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge or experience with composite manufacturing methods, analysis, or design methods.
