About the Role: As a Senior Staff Product Designer, Growth Acquisition, you will own and define the end-to-end experience for visitor-to-lead conversion on Gusto.com and key marketing touchpoints. You will shape how small businesses discover Gusto, guide them through key decision-making moments, and optimize lead conversion funnels to drive meaningful business growth. You’ll collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Revenue, Growth PMs, and Engineering to deliver scalable, personalized, and high-converting user experiences. You will leverage data-driven experimentation, behavioral insights, and UX best practices to ensure Gusto maximizes lead capture, qualification, and conversion while maintaining a customer-first approach. About the Team: The Growth Team at Gusto is dedicated to helping customers find, adopt, and engage with our products meaningfully. Our approach prioritizes a user-centric design ethos, ensuring that growth initiatives are backed by value and trust. As a key contributor, you’ll join a collaborative environment with Engineers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and strategic Marketing and Business partners, focusing on critical touchpoints in the customer journey, including on Gusto.com.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Drive lead generation strategy and execution across Gusto.com and key acquisition channels.
- Optimize high-impact user journeys that drive MQLs, lead conversion, and engagement.
- Develop and scale experimentation programs to continuously improve lead funnel performance.
- Refine site-wide information architecture (IA) to improve discoverability, navigation, and conversion efficiency.
- Design high-performing lead capture experiences, including forms, gated content, and CRM-integrated workflows.
- Partner with marketing, sales, and revenue operations to improve lead qualification and sales handoff processes.
- Lead personalization efforts to create tailored visitor-to-lead experiences based on user segments and intent.
- Improve Gusto’s Growth Design System and CMS to support scalable and iterative lead-generation experiences.
- Ensure consistency and alignment across growth, brand, and product teams to deliver a unified experience.
- Mentor and coach designers in growth-focused UX, experimentation, and conversion optimization.
Here’s what we're looking for:
- 8+ years of experience in product design, UX, or growth-focused design, with a strong background in B2B SaaS acquisition and funnel optimization.
- Expertise in landing page design, lead capture, and conversion optimization.
- Strong knowledge of A/B testing, behavioral analytics, and data-driven UX decision-making.
- Experience leading high-traffic, multi-touchpoint acquisition strategies for web and marketing campaigns.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, sales, and engineering teams to drive high-impact business outcomes.
- Understanding of growth metrics (MQLs, CAC, LTV) and lead qualification workflows.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a proven ability to co-lead product strategy and articulate contributions to the product direction.
- Track record of iterative impact and long-term vision development, achieving UX milestones from initial value to north star objectives.
Nice to haves:
- Background in B2B SaaS, Fintech, or HR Tech industries.
- Experience designing for subscription-based business models.
- Knowledge of service design principles, ensuring sales, marketing, and support interactions are holistically designed.
- Experience in mentoring and leading design teams within a growth or acquisition-focused environment.
- Hands-on experience optimizing CMS workflows and scaling design systems for growth initiatives.

Our cash compensation range for this role is $174,000/yr to $216,000/yr in Denver & most remote locations, and $204,000/yr to $254,000/yr in San Francisco, Seattle & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.
Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
