About the Role:
As the Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting - Revenue Operations & New Product Integrations, you will be a leader within the Revenue Accounting team. You will be a key driver of how new products and services are brought to life within our revenue accounting ecosystem. You will lead the operationalization of these offerings, assess accounting impacts early and manage the implementation of our new revenue recognition system. This role requires a strong understanding of revenue accounting principles, excellent project management skills, the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams (including accounting, product, sales, legal and technology) and build from ambiguity.
About the Team:
Our Revenue Accounting team is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely recognition of our revenue in accordance with relevant accounting standards. We are a collaborative and forward-thinking team focused on continuous improvement and leveraging technology to streamline our processes. As we continue to grow and introduce new products and services, this role will be critical in shaping our revenue recognition practices, operationalizing our new products/services and implementing our new revenue recognition system.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Build scalable accounting processes to support growth in revenue.
- Take the “first stab” at evaluating the accounting implications of new products, identifying key accounting and operational risks and triggering involvement with technical accounting as needed.
- Lead the revenue accounting efforts for the integration of new products and services, ensuring accurate and compliant revenue recognition, including operationalization and month-end close procedures.
- Project manage the implementation of our new revenue recognition system, working closely with the vendor, technology, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain revenue recognition policies and procedures related to new products and systems.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, sales, and legal teams to understand new product offerings and their revenue implications.
- Drive and manage other key revenue-related projects aimed at improving efficiency, accuracy, and compliance through the use of AI and other automation tools.
- Partner with technology & engineering to ensure data integrity and seamless flow of information between billing, the new revenue recognition system, and our ERP.
Here’s what we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in revenue accounting & quote to cash processes, with a strong understanding of ASC 606.
- Experience in a public company environment with a focus on automation and systems.
- Proven experience in leading revenue accounting efforts for new products.
- Demonstrated success in project managing the implementation of revenue recognition or similar financial systems is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams.
- Experience working with Netsuite and Revenue Recognition systems is a plus.
Our cash compensation amount for this role is $159,150/yr to $196,285/yr for San Francisco & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.
Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
