About the Team:

Their work prioritizes the end user (Gustomers) by supporting internal engineers, empowering them to implement solutions with minimal friction. The team designs, builds, and maintains scalable, secure, and reliable network infrastructure to deliver seamless connectivity and optimal performance across all services and applications.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Deploy new network tooling focusing on scalability, reliability, and security
  • Write code to help monitor, configure, validate, and operate the corporate network
  • Excel in a rapidly evolving environment, adapt quickly to new information, and reprioritize as needed
  • Develop and maintain consistency within the networking infrastructure
  • Ability to participate in a regular on-call rotation and work non-standard hours during network changes
  • Travel to Gusto offices once per quarter for implementation, driving of projects, and troubleshooting
  • Partner with security teams to develop and maintain secure network infrastructure across the cloud and physical offices
  • Partner with other stakeholders at Gusto such as ENV (facilities) and A/V systems that depend on reliable networking to fulfill their missions.

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • 10+ years of hands-on network engineering experience, including deployment, configuration, and management of routers, switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi, and security solutions.
  • Deep expertise in networking protocols and traditional vendor technologies such as Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto.
  • Strong background with Linux systems (shells, daemons, processes) and programming skills in Python or Go.
  • Proven experience designing, deploying, and operating distributed services with robust monitoring for production networks.
  • Skilled in cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent) with a solid understanding of automation, orchestration, and instrumentation practices.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement, with the ability to track service health through metrics, SLA reporting, and dashboards.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, including supporting critical services during nights or weekends when needed.

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $150,000/yr to $165,000/yr in Denver & most remote locations, and $170,000/yr to $195,000/yr in New York, Seattle & San Francisco Bay Area. Stock equity is additional. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
