Taxable Bond Portfolio Analyst
Summary:
The Taxable Bond Portfolio Analyst will support portfolio managers and traders in managing fixed income portfolios across corporate, government, agency MBS, and other sectors. This role requires strong quantitative, technology, and analytical skills to evaluate performance, monitor risk, and support investment decisions across taxable bond strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze daily portfolio performance and risk exposures (duration, convexity, spread risk) across taxable bond strategies.
- Support portfolio managers and traders in implementing trade ideas, including modifying curve positioning and sector exposures.
- Monitor portfolios for adherence to client investment guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal risk limits.
- Contribute to scenario analysis and stress testing to evaluate portfolio positioning relative to market events.
- Maintain internal models, dashboards, and databases used for monitoring and analysis.
- Prepare quarterly and monthly investment reports, including updated statistics, charts, and market commentary.
- Collaborate with marketing and client service teams to provide data for presentations and pitchbooks.
- Contribute to automation projects to streamline reporting and analysis using tools such as Python, VBA, or SQL.
- Partner with IT and the Enterprise Data and Analytics team to improve data accuracy and accessibility.
- Generate custom quantitative analysis and ad hoc support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree in engineering or a quantitative discipline preferred.
- Strong analytical and technical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, macros).
- Familiarity with Bloomberg, FactSet, Morning Star, or similar platforms.
- Experience with Python, SQL, VBA or R preferred.
- CFA charter or progress toward CFA designation preferred.
- Understanding of fixed income analytics including yield curves, duration, and credit risk.
- Team player with strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across investment, risk, and operations teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, market-driven environment.
This role is based in our Boston office on a hybrid schedule - 4 days per week in-office, 1 day per week remote.
The actual base salary is dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, GW&K employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus and/or commission, which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance.
Base Salary Range
$90,000-$125,000 USD
