THE OPPORTUNITY
We are hiring a Frontend Tech Lead to our Growth Retention team in Portugal!
Our purpose is to have our users love the product even more. Instead of focusing on obstacles, we design experiences that engage users to come back for more, providing suggestions for what to do next, or experimenting with something new to sustain the engagement. We believe in experimentation, iterating on new concepts quickly, and letting data drive our decisions — sometimes even giving up work that makes no impact.
As a Tech Lead, you will oversee a team of software engineers and ensure the pace and quality of their technical deliveries. Your team will see you as a technical reference, and you should expect to code some key features, review pull requests, and actively participate in all the architectural decisions of the squad.
You will collaborate closely with the Product Manager in order to evaluate the feasibility of tasks, choose the best strategy for assigning and splitting user stories and prioritize engineering issues and technical debts.
You need to make sure that agile ceremonies are running effectively and watch out for any process bottlenecks.
It is also expected for you to have a sharp strategic mindset questioning the product team and stakeholders about the scope and timing of features balancing the complexity and the cost of opportunity of deliveries while fostering a culture of innovation in your team.
In addition, you're expected to perform management tasks such as mentoring, facilitating, and conducting regular one-on-ones with the members of your team, making sure that they are constantly challenged, recognized, engaged, and that they keep improving their technical skills over time. You should assess their performance regularly and draw the best plan for their career.
YOUR IMPACT
- Develop, often in pair programming, parts of the features (expected around 30% to 50% of your time);
- Account for systems reliability and monitoring, fostering the ownership in the team, keeping the team's SLOs under budget, as well as ensuring the team is on top of our flows’ monitoring;
- Manage technical debts and engineering backlog;
- Set up experiments to test improvements;
- Ensure successful deliveries, and promote the long-term technical health of our journeys;
- Ensure a high bar on code quality standards, making sure devs are proud of their work;
- Work in a collaborative and agile environment that prioritizes people over process and is laser-focused on productivity;
- Take part in incident resolution and troubleshooting in production;
- Help the engineering team grow on their career;

WHO YOU ARE
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience;
- You have experience in web/mobile development;
- You have experience working with modern agile product development teams;
- You are versed in working with TypeScript and React ecosystem;
- You are familiar working with BFF;
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills;
- You have well developed communication skills, you are capable of clearly articulate ideas when communicating to groups;
- Communication skills to work with multidisciplinary teams located in several countries with different cultures;
- You need to be able to articulate ideas clearly when speaking to groups in English;
- You're expected to perform management tasks such as mentoring, facilitating and conducting regular one-on-ones with the members of your team, making sure that they are constantly challenged, engaged, and improving their skills.
