We’re looking for a Compliance Expert! (Fixed Term Contract - 12 Months)

We’re looking for a Compliance Expert with excellent attention to detail, as part of our Compliance & Risk team.  Our Compliance & Risk team are responsible for providing oversight to the Habito by Monzo business and customer mortgage journey, ensuring adherence with Habito by Monzo and the FCA’s regulatory standards.  The successful candidate will be able to combine their existing compliance experience with the best technology and great teamwork to ensure  mortgage advice regulations and fair outcomes for our customers are met.

More about what you’ll do:

  • Evaluating mortgage and protection journeys in line with Habito by Monzo policy and external regulations to ensure appropriate compliance
  • Providing technical compliance advice and guidance to our Mortgage Expert, Case Management, Lending and Insurance teams
  • Providing regular support and guidance to the wider business 
  • Providing case specific feedback to the Mortgage & Protection Expert teams around file review findings
  • Providing independent and accurate reporting of Habito by Monzo's compliance landscape
  • Conducting compliance monitoring of the first line and second line
  • Supporting risk and compliance assessments including thematic reviews and targeted deep dives
  • Assist with the documentation, implementation and streamlining of procedures and processes
  • Conduct due diligence on customers, partners, and suppliers, ensuring robust oversight of both regulatory and data protection risks.
  • Monitor third-party data processors and ensure contracts include appropriate data protection clauses.
  • Developing and maintaining a communication programme to ensure all stakeholders are fully trained and aware of relevant risks and related requirements and responsibilities 
  • Conducting root cause analysis of compliance issues that arise, considering the regulatory, commercial and reputational impacts
  • Support projects and change initiatives relating to SMCR, Consumer Duty, conflicts of interest, regulatory reporting, data protection compliance, and records retention.

You’ll have:

  • A strong understanding of the compliance disciplines, FCA principles and data protection
  • A good working knowledge of the end-to-end mortgage process is preferred, but not essential. 
  • Demonstrable experience in operating in environments where compliance frameworks are followed 
  • Able to deliver in a fast paced and demanding environment 
  • An attention to detail, with a methodical and organised approach
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Self-motivation and prepared to take responsibility and ownership of tasks
  • The ability to prioritise to meet tight deadlines
  • Hard working, tenacity and a focused mind set
  • The ability to work independently, using their initiative and work as part of a wider team
  • The ability to comfortably handle change and in a fast-evolving environment
