Job Purpose
Hankook Tire is growing its commercial business in the United States. Our Clarksville, TN manufacturing facility is expanding as we speak. Soon we will have the capacity to build ONE MILLION commercial truck & trailer tires in the State of Tennessee. We’re looking for an experienced Class 8 expert to help drive OEM tire sales for the future!
The Commercial Original Equipment (OE) Account Manager serves as the main point of contact for our Commercial Original Equipment (OE) customers regarding products, technical specs, orders, pricing, planning, and other customer requests. Additionally, this Account Manager will serve as a liaison between Original Equipment (OE) customers and internal Hankook departments including sales, supply chain, AR, customer services, manufacturing, quality, etc.
Key Accountabilities
- Main point of contact for Class 8 TBR OEM accounts, with a primary focus on specialized development of new business and long-term growth with Commercial OEM accounts as directed by management.
- Serve as technical expert and first point of contact to customer for all commercial needs.
- Work with OEM purchasing agents and related teams to ensure all contract details stay up to date and accounted for.
- Receive and analyze Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents, exchange rates, and RMI data.
- Review and understand contract details to ensure all elements are adhered and amended as needed, to include such items as Raw Material Escalators and compliance requests.
- Ensure orders and schedules are met for pre-production and prototype builds.
- Present Hankook technology and capabilities to customer purchasing, product planning, plant program managers, and engineering teams.
- Manage development schedules together with technical account managers and OE sales team.
- Set up and maintain contracts and arrangements with 3rd party warehouses and wheel assembly companies.
- Manage quality issues with related teams.
- Weekly/monthly reporting on SCM & AR related-items to OEM accounts.
- Analyze market conditions and technical trends related to OEM market
- Gather information related to OE maker's new vehicles and technology initiatives.
- Active participation in OEM vendor fairs and events.
- Help craft fleet nomination (spec credit) programs to drive fleet demand through the OEM’s.
- Assist Hankook field sales team with training related to OE growth from the ground up (i.e. fleet and OEM dealer interactions, etc.).
- Call on OEM truck and trailer dealers as needed to gain market intelligence.
- Any other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Management.
Level of Accountabilities
- Individual contributor, working with TBR Sales & Marketing teams, SCM, AR, Technical Services, Legal, etc.
- No direct reports currently, however this position offers future advancement opportunities.
Core Competencies
- Superior verbal and written communication skills and the ability to craft impactful customer presentations.
- Proficient in all current Microsoft applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- SAP experience is a plus.
- The ability to become proficient and use our CRM system to it’s full extent and your benefit.
- Strong ambition and drive to succeed, but with the creativity and patience to navigate in a Global environment where new programs and approaches are still being perfected.
- Technical proficiency with commercial truck tires is a plus.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience calling on Class 8 OEM’s. Tire manufacturer experience is preferred; however, we’re willing to look at the right “industry” person that has strong Class 8 relationships.
- The ability to travel up to 50% across the United States, living within a reasonable distance from a major airport.
