POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Manager, Project Finance will play a vital role within the Hanwha Renewables organization to enable our vision of becoming the leading solar solution provider in the Americas. The Director of Project Finance is expected to draw upon an extensive finance background and direct experience to lead the successful finance utility-scale ground mount PV power plants and BESS projects. As a senior member of the organization, the Director of Project Finance will work independently to develop, finance, and conduct project sell-down transactions. This position is remote and reports to the Vice President of Project Finance.

The employee may be required to perform other job-related duties as requested by management.  All duties will be assigned in accordance with applicable laws and company policies

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leverage extensive relationships to identify potential project investors and/or buyers from all facets of the investment and banking communities. Ensure key partners are regularly updated on Hanwha Renewables capabilities and project pipeline.
  • Work on project finance modeling to forecast future liabilities.
  • Initiate and execute capital raise and/or project sales plans including creation of marketing materials, data room creation and management of all internal and external processes for successful outcome.
  • Work closely with Hanwha Renewables developers as part of project deal team to maximize project returns and NPV. Highlight and alert management of critical financing issues that may severally impact the project but make recommendations to cure issue.
  • Work closely with operations teams to ensure accurate and defensible assumptions made for Capex such as sales tax and, OPEX such as property tax consideration.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have BS/BA and ideally MBA with minimum of 7+ yrs. experience in project finance, corporate finance or investment banking with at least 3 years in solar and/or storage project experience.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of and experience in sourcing, developing and managing relationships with project sponsors, buyers, IPPs, tax equity investors and project lenders.
  • Must have detailed knowledge and understanding for all phases of project finance in solar PV plants and BESS projects, in addition must also have basic understanding of key development concepts to integrate into risk analysis.
  • Must be a proficient user of Excel to be able to independently create and update sophisticated financial models in order to price PPA bids, evaluate project economics, and simulate the financial outcome of multiple development and financing approaches.
  • Must have experience working with project developers and understanding of RFP process. Must have insight to highlight key risk factors and provide and deliver best project finance solutions.
  • Must have demonstrated track record of delivering results, including ability to independently source and communicate with investors, manage investor due diligence process, and negotiate and close complex financing and project sell-down transactions.
  • Must have experience in and the ability to develop a targeted investor marketing program and forge strategic partnerships and customized investment products.
  • Must have both long term strategic perspective and near term action orientation, strong desire to continuously improve and push limits.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and must be a strong team player with high degree of professionalism and conduct at all times. Ability to interact with senior leadership cross-culturally, and both within and outside the organization.
  • Willingness to travel domestically.

 

COMPENSATION: $185,000 - $210,000 salary
