ABOUT THE ROLE

Happy Money is looking for a Senior Manager, Data Strategy & Analytics to join our Risk/Credit team. In this role, you'll serve as a strategic analytics partner across the organization, translating complex data into actionable insights that drive decision-making across Credit, Operations, Marketing, Product, and Finance. You'll work with large datasets in a modern cloud-based environment, building dashboards, developing analytical models, and uncovering trends that help us deliver on our mission of helping people achieve financial wellness through responsible personal lending.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a high-impact position where you'll collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, balancing deep technical work with clear communication to non-technical audiences. You'll set the agenda for how we use data to manage risk, optimize performance, and better serve our customers — not just respond to requests. You're expected to spot what needs to be built before anyone asks, propose the approach, and ship it.

  • Write efficient, well-documented SQL queries in Snowflake to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets
  • Develop and automate analytical workflows using Python and/or R, with code managed through GitHub
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports in Tableau that provide visibility into key business metrics across Credit, Operations, Marketing, and Finance — you decide which metrics earn the space and which don't
  • Partner with Data Engineering to build and refine data workflows in Databricks that support reporting and analytics needs
  • Own ad hoc analyses to answer strategic business questions, delivering findings with a clear point of view and recommended action — not a menu of options
  • Monitor data quality and proactively identify anomalies before stakeholders notice them
  • Decide which analytical methodologies we use and when to retire them — continuously evaluating opportunities to optimize processes and introduce improved approaches that enhance efficiency and scalability
  • Operate remote-first and async by default — manage your own time, block focus hours, and pull people in when you need them rather than waiting to be pulled in

ABOUT YOU

You don't wait for a well-scoped ticket — you spot the question worth answering and go answer it. You excel at transforming complex data into meaningful business insights. You combine technical expertise with the ability to communicate in writing without needing a meeting to explain yourself, and collaborate effectively across functions to deliver high-quality work. You bring intellectual curiosity to every project and hold yourself to a higher accuracy bar than anyone else would set for you.

  • 7+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field, preferably within financial services or FinTech
  • Strong SQL skills with experience querying cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake
  • Proficiency in Tableau or similar visualization tools, with a portfolio of dashboards you've designed for business users
  • Working knowledge of Python and/or R for data manipulation, analysis, and automation
  • Familiarity with Databricks, Spark, or similar distributed computing platforms
  • Experience using Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative development
  • A track record of working autonomously in a remote environment — you know how to stay unblocked without real-time access to your team
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to distill complex analyses into clear narratives for diverse audiences
  • Comfort making judgment calls with incomplete information and defending them with data in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift

BENEFITS & PERKS

  • Generous medical, dental, and vision insurance options
  • Eligible for Annual Bonus
  • 401k Plan with a matching contribution
  • Generous PTO including sick leave, vacation, volunteer, and more
  • 12 Weeks Paid Parental Leave
  • Company-paid short & long term disability and life insurance
  • Monthly tech stipend to help cover expenses for remote work
  • Happy Money is a 100% fully distributed workforce

Base Salary Range

$145,000 - $160,000 USD

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
